Tuesday, March 4, 2008. I had the privilege of taking Ember, Kiikzhan and Moldir to the Savva orphange this past Sunday. Every month the youth department goes to celebrate birthdays from the previous month. Since half of the department is on vacation I got to be the designated driver. The added fun was that it was my birthday that day and Ember made it a point to let everyone know. On the way back to Taraz I thought a lot about these kids.in a few years what will their lives be like?

Monday, April 28, 2008. This weekend was filled with a little bit of adventure as Sara and I took a visiting adoptive couple on an excursion b. Eyond the borders of Taraz. We often get to meet people coming in to ado. Pt but they often don't get a chance to see village life and some of the most spectacular mountains along the way. As we drove into Bauerzhan Momumshuly we spotted a really cool camel grazing and had to stop to get some photos. Of course, I wasn't satisfied with. Saturday, April 26, 2008.

Monday, October 20, 2008. Annie arrived Monday evening from Ohio and we spent the first few days of our week hanging out in Morro Bay. We. Indulged in my Great Aunt Iva's baking (oh my land can she cook! And had a wonderful time walking the beach and chasing the seagulls. Saturday, January 24, 2009. Back Safely in Kazakhstan. As one can often expect, trips to Kazakhstan are usually not uneventful to say the least. I was very pleased when the check-in person for AA informed me that she could check my baggage all the way to KZ since they were partners of British Air. This also saved me about $170! Once I got back to the apartment, I plugged in my phone.worked fine. Interesting how we make our decisions.and often when looking back we realize that it was a miracle.

Due to some special givers back home we were able to celebrate Nowraz in a special way at the Ulan orphanage. Since Nowraz means "Spring" and the weather is getting nice we knew the children would soon be spending hours outside playing sports.
