The light of a single ember...: February 2009
http://emberslight.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Hunting. I feel as if I've returned to the basic stage of striking rocks, beating myself and grunting, all while wearing spotted, matted, ragged furs. Your typical cave woman! All because. I'm job hunting. So what do I do? So although I'm a bit "hunt weary" today, this is a chin up email! The hunt is on! I'll keep you posted on the prey. Thursday, January 29, 2009. Running with the dogs. So here are some folks I've been hanging out with lately! They can't get enough of me. I'm currently house sitting for a good friend and I'm glad her HUGE dog is way more calm than he was in his puppy years. Posted by My Year in Kazakhstan. Monday, January 12, 2009. It's a time for reflection and taking stock, but also for REST. This is good. Very good. Posted by My Year in Kazakhstan. Sunday, January 11, 2009. Where is Ember now? Posted by My Year in Ka...

Saturday, August 30, 2008. Friend’s Needed, Apply Within. I was quickly reassured by my close Kazakh friends it’s not so for them! Posted by My Year in Kazakhstan. Thursday, August 28, 2008. Қазақ телін кішкіне киен болды. What can I say? Well, it’s now comfortable to read Kazakh, even monstrous words and my pronunciation is good. I can’t spell worth anything though! Some things never change! My dictionary is my close friend. The good news is that I did make a breakthrough this month. I’ve also cut...

The light of a single ember...: March 2009
http://emberslight.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Frolicking.there's simply no other word. Well, after 10 inches of snow came by.I couldn't help but want to play! Sadly, I had no playmates around and had to come up with some imaginary ones. MiniMe and KJ-Gee were fun for dress-up but poor competition for a snowball fight! And of course I had to make a snow angel! Posted by My Year in Kazakhstan. Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Please put me in the slow lane! Posted by My Year in Kazakhstan. Monday, March 2, 2009. Kazken: April 2009
http://kazken.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Nowraz, what is that? If you are familiar with Kazakhstan you may know what Nowraz is, if not let me give you a bit of Kazakh culture. Now-raz (pronounced now - raz only you must roll the "r" as you say the second syllable) is the the historical Kazakh New Year as they used to celebrate the new year when spring arrived. It actually makes sense as winter is cold and a bit lifeless. Spring brings flowers, buds on trees and everything begins a new. It's also a time where communitie...

Kazken: Nowrez at Ulan
http://kazken.blogspot.com/2009/04/nowrez-at-ulan.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Since you already know a little about Nowraz, let me also share this story with you. Due to some special givers back home we were able to celebrate Nowraz in a special way at the Ulan orphanage. Since Nowraz means "Spring" and the weather is getting nice we knew the children would soon be spending hours outside playing sports. Unfortunately most of the sport balls they have are well past optimum playing usage and are few to pass around. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Helpin...

Kazken: 4 Corners
http://kazken.blogspot.com/2009/02/4-corners.html
Saturday, February 14, 2009. I know it has been a while. Pardon my slackness in creating a new blog. Thanks for joining in with me to see what life is like for the orphan children here in Kazakhstan. As you may already know, we host a birthday party, once a month, for each orphanage we have the blessing to work with. A good time is had by all and we are fortunate to share God's love in small but practical ways. And it is friends and sponsors back home who help make all this happen. Returning to the US.

Kazken: March 2009
http://kazken.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 23, 2009. We've been so busy I didn't have time to duck my head! Well, maybe I'm making excuses, but I'm sticking to it. We've had a Kids Connection Delegation in town and making sure they touch base with as many of the orphans we work with, as possible. So it has been a lot of running around. More on that in a later update. All in all it was a very nice trip with the gang and a nice rest from an otherwise very busy week! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Become a Monthly Supporter.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Savva Orphanage Dec. B-Day party. Since we can't host a special Birthday party for each child, we have birthday parties for Savva, Ulan and Saramoldaeva orphanages once a month, celebrating birthdays for all children, in the given month. In December, we went to the Savva orphanage, and celebrated birthdays for about 14 children. How many of you get to have fun celebrating birthdays every month! We love doing that here. Wish you could join us. Sunday, January 11, 2009. It was ...
