The Way I See It: June 2014
http://wayiseeit-eleanor.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Sunday, June 29, 2014. Just Another Walk in the Park(s). My legs were awfully stiff this morning, and the only thing for that, I've found, is to move them, so I decided that today I would just walk for the sake of walking. No pushing. No jogging. No attention to pace. Just move. I started out at Blount Cultural Park. Where I got a little obsessed by how gorgeous the clouds were. I decided I still felt pretty good, so I headed to Woodmere Park.

The Way I See It: March 2014

The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Friday, March 28, 2014. In praise of bad photographs. One of my favorite iPhone apps is Timehop. In a nutshell, you tell it in which social media ponds you swim and every day it sends you a little look back at what you posted there. Some days are so deadly dull even the current deadly dull days seem exciting. Sometimes I find myself fairly well stunned by how quickly time has flown. Not the people. Never the people. Today was a case in point. Montg...

The Way I See It: May 2013

The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Sunday, May 12, 2013. The last Mothers' Day I had my Mama I wrote a blog post about what she had taught me. If you are so inclined, you can click here to read that. I am sure of that. And that one in the middle puts her in what she always said was her least favorite place to be - in the kitchen - but was also the place where most of our memories take us when we think of her. She held forth. In her kitchen. She did not like anybody else fooling ...

The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Why I Did It. I don't use Facebook as a political platform, as a rule. And I agree that plastering this doesn't do a thing. To change a thing. Unless the Justices decide to decide based on how many of these they see in social media today, it's an empty gesture. (Let me be clear here - the Supreme Court Justices should not. So, why'd I jump in when I typically don't? Kardashian a legal license to do so, either. 3 I trusted m...

The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Small Boats and Big Seas. Nobody honestly can or should care what my considered opinions are on any of the headline making events of the past week, so I'm not going to limn them out here (or repeat them, if you do. For purposes of this post, the point is that it really doesn't matter what. Out on a walk this week, contemplating how much fear I was reading in some of the angry posts on social media, I thought back to something...

On this morning's walk I was reminded of some very important things to keep in mind if you want to be happy and healthy and of generally good disposition. Good dental hygiene is so important for overall health, and also,. People like you better when your breath doesn't stink. Life is a party, and you get to. Be in charge of your guest list.

The Way I See It: Name That Tune
http://wayiseeit-eleanor.blogspot.com/2015/06/name-that-tune.html
The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Y'all need to know a couple things about my Mama. She never met a person with whom she wasn't eager to make conversation in order to find some common ground. When she was hospitalized late in 2011 due to shortness of breath, one of her first stops was radiology, where she met a young man, name of Hernando. Thing on her mind. Where does he fit into the Great Hernando Narrative? Well, as it happens, he paid a visit to my Mama i...

The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Monday, December 31, 2012. Even when I'm in my kitchen! My advice for the New Year? Set yourself up to find delight in something every day. That way lies peace and joy. Sunday, December 2, 2012. I ran across this note while I was cleaning out some drawers. It is a triple whammy since I am not sure to which son this note applied. They both spoke from the pulpit. I'll just be adding this to their tabs. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Mercy on my day.

The Way I See It: January 2013

The Way I See It. Literally. Figuratively. Occasionally. Saturday, January 19, 2013. Who's your bully now? Unless you've been living under a rock over these past many years you know that one of the important issues of our time is bullying, which has reached new levels of ugliness thanks to social media. In the "good" old days, it used to be that those of us who were bullied, or about whom rumors flew, knew that no matter how horrible it was, it was self-limiting. It's bad enough when the 50 or so people ...
