spinsjal: Eucalyptus Dye Recipe
http://spinsjal.blogspot.com/p/eucalyptus-dye-recipe.html
As an orange lover, I was delighted to learn that eucalyptus yields an orange color. Eucalyptus yields a “fugitive” dye meaning that without a fixative it will fade on exposure to light. Natural dye expert India Flint ( http:/ www.indiaflint.com. Believes that this is part of the process of using and wearing textiles whose color must be renewed…an interesting concept. Health warning: eucalyptus is a toxin if ingested! And be sure to use only bowls, pots, and tools that are dedicated to dyeing only! Still...

spinsjal: Thoughts on Linda's book, the McGarrigles, and knitting
http://spinsjal.blogspot.com/2015/04/thoughts-on-lindas-book-mcgarrigles-and.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Thoughts on Linda's book, the McGarrigles, and knitting. This is my review of Linda Ronstadt's autobiography that I also put up on goodreads (the photo is on my Ravelry page):. I was a huge Linda Ronstadt fan through my young adult years. I will confess to being more of a rock n roll fan that a ballad fan. The heartrenching ballad does little for me. I love her loud versions of "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" and "Tumbling Dice.". I really enjoyed this. Her favorite quote is from Fl...

spinsjal: Vikings in the Attic
http://spinsjal.blogspot.com/2015/06/vikings-in-attic.html
Saturday, June 20, 2015. Vikings in the Attic. So some years ago I read a book called Confederates in the Attic. I pretty much came up with the idea that these reenactor people, while yes they are having fun, learning history, and channeling their ancestors, are by and large a wee bit off. (The book however is great and I recommend it). Actually the preceding video popped up when I was watching Lois Swales's videos on youtube. I have been reading Helene's blog. January 5, 2016 at 6:35 AM. This is my work...

spinsjal: Fair Isle Knitting
http://spinsjal.blogspot.com/2010/12/fair-isle.html
Tuesday, December 28, 2010. I haven't been to Fair Isle, just seen it in the distance from North Ronaldsay. Here's a map showing the location of Fair Isle. Fair Isle is part of Shetland, located 27 miles southwest of Sumburgh Head on the mainland of Shetland, and 27 miles northeast of North Ronaldsay, part of Orkney. Here's a photo I took at Sumburgh Head in Shetland, you can see the puffins, they are as cute as their name sounds. I purchased Alice Starmore's famous book. BTW, is a flower in the family k...
