A friend is real, honest, or can (eventually, hopefully) get to the point where honesty prevails, even though it may be very uncomfortable to reveal the truth, especially when it hasn’t heretofore been directly faced by oneself. I have to add that friendship is not a one-way process. There may be a break or vacation, but it’s not a total disappearing act. But what if the friend is suffering? I hope it’s real friendship.
