TastyKate: March 2009
http://tastykate.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
An organic, local approach to improving health. One meal at a time. Saturday, March 21, 2009. That means it is time to break out the grill (or at least start thinking about it) here in New England. For me that means a time to prepare my favorite BBQ chicken recipe: Balsamic BBQ Chicken by Giada deLaurentiis. This recipe is tangy, slightly sweet, and absolutely delicious. While vacationing in Sea Ranch with some of my favorite girlfriends (pictured above! 1 C balsamic vinegar. 1/4 C brown sugar. Season th...

TastyKate: Black Beans and Rice, Not a Side Dish
http://tastykate.blogspot.com/2009/09/black-beans-and-rice-not-side-dish.html
An organic, local approach to improving health. One meal at a time. Sunday, September 13, 2009. Black Beans and Rice, Not a Side Dish. I grew up eating the typically Cuban meal of pork, black beans and rice on a regular basis. My mom learned from my grandmother (.I think) and passed down the tradition to me. However, it wasn't until a recent edition of Real Simple. That I realized the black beans and rice didn't need to be relegated to a side dish.that it could take center stage. This is good news! 1/2 t...

TastyKate: June 2010
http://tastykate.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
An organic, local approach to improving health. One meal at a time. Saturday, June 5, 2010. Tomato and Goat Cheese Tart. The flavor of this tart blew me away! While Adam just kept wishing it was pizza (this is NOT supposed to taste like pizza.), I savored every buttery, flaky bite. A tart without the need for a fancy pan - I love it! The recipe was from David Lebovitz's Living the Sweet Life in Paris. I did change up the herbs to what I had on hand - dried. Make this and enjoy! Links to this post.

You know the feeling when you buy something new and all of a sudden it seems like it is all around you - that's exactly how I feel right now with this Locavore challenge. Or perh...

TastyKate: Leftover Turkey Chili
http://tastykate.blogspot.com/2009/12/leftover-turkey-chili.html
An organic, local approach to improving health. One meal at a time. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. I roasted a 22lb bird for Thanksgiving this year. With a group of 8 for dinner there was quite a bit of leftover turkey. (It was all part of my grand strategy to get to try several post-turkey day recipes! This is a fantastic chili for a cool autumn day. The turkey really tastes delicious in it. Don't forget the cumin - it's addition added immensely to the depth of flavor. 3 Tbl olive oil. 1 tsp crushed garlic.

TastyKate: Banana Cupcakes
http://tastykate.blogspot.com/2010/03/banana-cupcakes.html
An organic, local approach to improving health. One meal at a time. Sunday, March 28, 2010. For some reason, in the past few weeks when I've wanted to bake it's been all about cupcakes. Maybe it has to do with the pounds of powdered sugar in my cabinets (leftover from dh's Cupcake Birthday Extravaganza) or maybe it's because I'm a bit cookied-out. Either way, when I signed up to bring a dessert to our church's potluck dinner cupcakes it would be! Rather than using the honey-cinnamon frosting, which sound...
