Peach Home
http://www.blackoakfarmstn.com/Peach_Home.html
If you haven't picked and eaten a truly ripe peach off a tree then you really haven't eaten a peach. To ship peaches they must be picked somewhat on the green side. Here you can choose what degree of ripeness you want. Extremely ripe for peach butter. Very ripe to ripe for eating fresh and cobblers. Ripe to just getting ripe for canning or for eating in a day or two. We are in the main part of the harvest season RIGHT NOW! Call for daily hours (865) 548-0959.
U-Pick Fruit
http://www.blackoakfarmstn.com/U-Pick_Fruit.html
A variety of fruits are available to be harvested ONLY on a u-pick basis here at Black Oak Farms. Strawberries start the harvest season off in late April followed by blackberries and peaches. Many of the seasons overlap somewhat so there is a good chance that you can pick more than one fruit while you're here. Start and end dates vary from year to year due to spring and summer weather conditions.

Home of Virginia Chestnuts. Tuesday, September 26, 2017. The chestnut harvest this year began about 10 days early. However, we are about caught up and will continue harvesting for the next 3 weeks, with the bulk of the harvest in the next 2 weeks. Harvesting is done with equipment and manually. Here are a few photos:. This step in the process separates the husks from the nuts before they are cleaned, dried and refrigerated. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
