Good people are like whiskey. April 15, 2014. Give me a juggernaut heart. I would write a song about the way light filters ruby through your hair, or the way leaves riding the breeze only search for your form, but I can’t find the right melody. I would sketch the way the road stretches on past the horizon trying to catch your voice, or the way the sea tries to imitate the feel of your skin, but my palette is too limited. So instead I can only pour another drink and turn my nose to the summer air.

Good people are like whiskey. March 25, 2014. I broke a glass bottle in my hand today. Or maybe it broke in my hands, and I had nothing to do with it’s shattering. It was difficult to tell and the memory is impossible to recall now anyway. All I can remember is the glass digging into my skin, the sharp edges outlined in red. But for now my hands run red, lines on a map trailing down and retracing and reconnecting all the memories along roads and backyard paths thick and thin as they bury themselves deep.
