What is P.O.T.S? The symptoms of POTS are widespread and range in severity. They will range from person to person, and come and go. Often the symptoms change when your body is changing positions, mostly when standing up. Here is a list of common symptoms experienced by P.O.T.S patients:. General weakness of the body. What is P.O.T.S? Saturday, October 22, 2011. I apologize for not updating this site as much as I would like, and said I would. This school year has been a very busy one, seeing as it is my senior year of high school. I'll update you guys on me a little later but first I want to talk about raising awareness. What is P.O.T.S? About 75% of POTS patients are women. Over 1,000,000 Americans have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a common symptom of P.O.T.S. At least half of P.O.T.S patients have neuropathic features. 1 in 3 have hyperadrenic features. 1 in 7 have serological evidence of an autoimmune pathogenesis. In a test, 12.5% of 152 patients with P.O.T.S have a family member with a history of Orthostatic Intolerance. Between 75-80% of Patients are females of the menstruating age. What is P.O.T.S? Everyone with POTS faints. Some POTS patients have never experienced fainting as a symptom. People who suffer from POTS are just lazy. Although symptoms of POTS can develop from prolonged bed rest but symptoms will go away when the person becomes active again. Those diagnosed with POTS cannot make symptoms go away just with activity alone. There is a distinct difference between having POTS and being lazy. A person who has POTS will have symptoms present at all times. Read The Spoon Theory.
