Thursday, March 29, 2012. The Devil I Do Know. I'm in a TRAP. Not the poverty/neighborhood trap but the sort of trap that qualifies itself as a mental prison. It's like groundhog's day (the movie, not the animal), repeating the same pattern of behavior over and over again until I can eloquently discuss the trap but I can't eloquently release myself from the cycle. Have you ever heard the expression "better the devil you know than the devil you don't"? Well, let me explain. That's not my trap. He falls in...

Sunday, October 30, 2011. Be a Queen: Lost Fairytales. I guess that was my fairytale. Let's make a world where little black girls have beautiful fairytales and those fairytales come true. Monday, October 24, 2011. True Love: The Illness or the Drug? The long-term single is reading the newspaper and the question appears interesting to her so she reads it aloud, "At what point did you know what true love is? Is love the drug or is it the illness? Either way, should we be declared clinically insane? Because...

BlaQ Daisy: In and Out of Time by Maya Angelou

Tuesday, February 14, 2012. In and Out of Time by Maya Angelou. In and Out of Time. The sun has come. The mists have gone. We see in the distance. Our long way home. I was always yours to have;. You were always mine. We have loved each other in and out of time. When the first stone looked up at the blazing sun. And the first tree struggled up from the forest floor. I had always loved you more. You freed your braids. Gave your hair to the breeze. It hummed like a hive of honey bees. The sun has come.

BlaQ Daisy: "Jones-ing": An idealistic view of love Vol. I
http://www.blaqdaisy.com/2009/11/idealistic-view-of-love-vol-i.html
Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Jones-ing: An idealistic view of love Vol. I. Love Jones (1997) happens to be my all time favorite love movie to date. I first watched this movie in high school long before any love prospects. So many aspects of this movie spoke to me and spurred some kind of creative jones in my bones. To think outside the box and open my mind to writing, poetry, spoken word, photography and to eventually move to Chicago cause that's obviously where all these creative black people are, right?

Monday, January 30, 2012. Four Letter Words: Hate vs. Love. Hate is such an ugly word. Four letters that mean so much. Four letters that describe you. More than it describes the person that you are discussing. Hate It's a verb. It's completely active. It means you have to muster up emotion and reminisce on the past or predict the future and say. this person right here. I. Hate. You. Don't get me wrong, please get me right. When you look back over your life. Will you cherish the time you spent hating?
