Telecom and IT Blog for Admins and Users. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Motorola Droid - Android 2.1 Update. Looks like the Android 2.1 update is finally starting to hit the Motorola Droid's! Personally I have been fine with 2.0 though some of the features and graphical changes in 2.1 should be nice. I've not yet gotten the update and have no plans on manually installing till the update hits my phone automatically. Below is a release schedule per the droid geet [dot] com. Monday, March 29, 2010. No big deal...

Telecom and IT Blog for Admins and Users. Thursday, June 24, 2010. Reminiscing of an older age of computer games - Part II. WellI thought I'd moved on from this subject that I posted back in April but something in me this morning made me just do a quick Google for Kings Quest. Let me just say I came back with much more then I had planned on. For starters I found a website named Sarien.net. Kings Quest I, II, III. Leisure Suit Larry I. Police Quest I and II. The makers of Sarien.net. I just cannot express...

Cisco IOS Configs for QoS Classification and Marking of Vonage Traffic (Part 2 of 3). This is the second post of 3 about my experience with Vonage QoS on my Cisco network. As mentioned earlier, here are the configs I came up with. But before, the layout of the network:. 160; Vonage Datacenter. So, the first st...

VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers: notes: Policing
http://virtualrack.blogspot.com/2011/11/notes-policing.html
VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers. This blog is all about networking technologies that drives the human network today. Welcome to the Human Network! Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Traffic-policing is designed to drop traffic in excess of the target rate, and enforce a max threshold of bandwidth. To accomplish this, a system of credits is used. Before a packet can be sent the amount of credits equaling the packet's size in bits must have been earned, like wages. Limits the rate of traffic on the interface.

VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers: notes: Shaping
http://virtualrack.blogspot.com/2011/11/notes-shaping.html
VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers. This blog is all about networking technologies that drives the human network today. Welcome to the Human Network! Monday, November 7, 2011. Only applies to outbound traffic. Queueing mechanisms can be used in conjunction with traffic shaping. Traffic shaping delay packets to ensure that a class of packets does not exceed a defined rate. While delaying the packets, the shaping function queues the packets, by default in a FIFO queue. 2 Types of Shaping. The Tc cannot be a...

VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers: notes: Legacy Custom Queuing
http://virtualrack.blogspot.com/2011/11/notes-legacy-custom-queuing.html
VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers. This blog is all about networking technologies that drives the human network today. Welcome to the Human Network! Thursday, November 3, 2011. Notes: Legacy Custom Queuing. Implementation of weighted round robin. Up to 16 configurable queues, including a priority queue. Thresholds are based on the number of bytes and/or number of packets. CQ is prone to inaccurate bandwidth allocations. Can only apply one mechanism per interface. MQC changes this. Byte-count = 1500 bytes.

Telecom and IT Blog for Admins and Users: Motorola Droid Root & 2.2.2 Upgrade to 2.3.5
http://telecom-and-it.blogspot.com/2011/08/motorola-droid-222-upgrade-to-235.html
Telecom and IT Blog for Admins and Users. Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Motorola Droid Root and 2.2.2 Upgrade to 2.3.5. That is where I began to read about my option of upgrading my Android to version to 2.3.5 through the work of Peter Alfonso. To begin with you'll need to enable USB Debugging on your phone. This can be accomplished by going to: Settings, Applications, Development, USB Debugging. Download the Motorola USB Drivers. You'll also need the Android SDK Developers Kit. I used Rom Manager. When you...

VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers: notes: QoS in Switches
http://virtualrack.blogspot.com/2011/11/cos-class-of-service-is-also-known-as.html
VIRTUALRACK for Network Engineers. This blog is all about networking technologies that drives the human network today. Welcome to the Human Network! Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Notes: QoS in Switches. COS (Class of Service), is also known as 802.1p priority bits. QOS must be enabled on a switch with "mls qos". With "mls qos" OFF the switch does not modify any markings. With "mls qos" ON switch clears all COS, ip-prec, and DCSP, unless the trust configuration was specified. Mls qos cos override. The wei...

I like playing with routers: June 2011
http://noshut.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
I like playing with routers. This blog is a collection of ideas and resources that I found while studying for my CCIE in Routing and Switching. While I have achieved that goal, I still intend to keep this blog going for wider network topics but updates may be sporadic. Wednesday, 1 June 2011. EIGRP Unequal Cost Paths. This post is going to be about how to perform unequal cost load balancing using EIGRP. There's going to be a little bit of mathematics here but nothing beyond some basic algebra. Network 10...
