Early detection provides one of the best opportunities to reduce death from breast cancer, particularly for young women who are at high risk of developing this disease. Currently aging is the only risk factor used for determining screening mammography needs of women in BC. Recent evidence suggest other important risk factors can be obtained from personal and family history. These factors identify women who may benefit more from other screening methods, such as MRI and ultrasound imaging.
