Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Tag Archives: 1972 Summit Series. Game 8 – Four And A Half Rubles. September 15, 2015. Because we’re in September………. From my collection, a ticket stub from the final game of the 1972 Canada-Russia Summit Series. The one that would forever change Paul Henderson’s life. Four and a half rubles in 1972 was the equivalent of just over three cents. Cheap like borscht. Cheaper than borscht. Have you ever been to a hockey game that cost three cents? July 29, 2015. One day, while w...

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. All posts by Dennis Kane. A Roof Over Their Heads. August 20, 2016. While in San Francisco I walked around and found places where certain people lived and loved and fried their brains and most certainly held excellent music jams and parties. A big shout-out to Google for the addresses. I think these homes rented for only a few hundred bucks a month back then, so a gig or two at the Fillmore took care of the rent nicely. Next (below), a couple of houses up from Country Joe&#...

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Category Archives: Dale Weise. February 27, 2016. Two huge goals in the third period by the captain, and great work throughout by the new guy and the big young guy, and the Canadiens top the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1. This gives the boys two straight wins, or three of their last four, and although their season still sucks, they’ve played better lately. It kind of makes my heart soar like a kite with holes in it. This would mark big McCarron’s first point in his...

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Category Archives: Carolina Hurricanes. February 7, 2016. It was a win, and wins are good I suppose. The Canadiens edged Carolina 2-1, but it took a shootout to do it, and without Ben Scrivens flapping around like a fish on a line, it would’ve been just another loss in this long, heartbreaking season. Because the team in front of him, as usual, lacked fire. But two wins still doesn’t sit right. Not for me, anyway. Not the way they won today. Carolina outshot Montreal 35-34.

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Category Archives: Dallas Stars. March 5, 2016. Above, the Canadiens at their hotel in Winnipeg. If there’s one thing we can say about the four-game road trip the Canadiens just completed, it’s that it was a four-game road trip they just completed. Games in San Jose, Anaheim, Los Angeles, and finally Winnipeg. They lost all four, of course. But they looked good in their Montreal Canadiens uniforms, with that big CH on the front. Alex Galchenyuk scored both Habs goals. The C...

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Tag Archives: Dangerous Dan’s. July 29, 2015. In early 1972 I was a dazed and confused 21-year old living with a few friends and strangers in a rented house on Edith St. in Toronto. It was a fine party house, where we got our kicks from drinking wine, cranking up the music, and making immature wisecracks to the couple in the nearby bedroom who just wanted be alone. We learned how to make about a hundred and twenty different drinks and cocktails, which seemed ridiculous, but...

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Tag Archives: Alexander Semin. July 24, 2015. Right winger Alexander Semin, recently bought out by the Carolina Hurricanes, has been picked up by the Habs for one year and 1.1 million. Cheap like borscht, unless you live in the real world of course. It was pathetic and I never wanted this guy on my team because of it. And now he is. And maybe, aside from fighting, he’ll help. October 2, 2012. By Denis Brel –. But with Alexander Semin, things are slightly different. The fact...

Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007. Category Archives: Washington Capitals. Habs Win In Washington. February 24, 2016. Alex Galchenyuk’s two goals and Mike Condon’s often great and sometimes lucky netminding helped the Canadiens edge the uppity Washington Capitals 4-3 in D.C. Wednesday night. Although they barely held on in the final few minutes after blowing a 4-1 lead in the third. To add to the first period shock, Tomas Fleischmann would make it 3-0 just two minutes into the second frame, which chased hots...

A switching of star defencemen. A trade that’ll piss off a lot of Habs fans. And who said Marc Bergevin was afraid to do something big? Weber, at 6’4″ and 235 lbs, hurts when he hits, and P.K. (6′ 210) – not so much. They loved what PK brought to the city, his charisma and charm and humour, and of course his $10 million pledge to Montr...
