What has changed about me? My dad asked me that question on the way back to campus after spending the last half of fall break at my parent's house. He was asking in acknowledgement that after 18 years, he has gotten to know me as a person very well, and in the short few months since I have moved out, realistically on a small part of me has change, primarily in the categories of education and personal independence. On the station platform after a late night Walgreens run. With my sister Megan. On Wednesda...

It started out with a comment I heard on the news the other night. THEY are taking away our rights and treating us like second class citizens! But for some reason I just couldn't get over that first comment. THEY are taking away our rights". People. A lot. But when it comes to the "us" versus "them" mentality, both sides are equally to blame. I can't really speak to what it is like to be on the more conservative side of this fence, so let me talk just a moment to my own people. I love you guys. I thi...

My Great Salt Summer. As you may have surmised from social media I've done a lot this summer. Seriously. Several things. I went to Canada on two different occasions, took classes, worked, started an internship with a transit agency and slept a lot. One thing I managed to do with great regularity was go to my favorite place on earth, the Great Salt Lake. Best Purchase. Yet. I'm going to take you in chronological order of some of the more notable sandcastles that team Anderbright made. 1 The Lagoon Castle.

An Alberta Road Trip in Selfies (And A Few Other Photos). The selfies are in chronological order. Everything else is not. I never really told you guys about going to Alberta! I'm getting into this bad habit where I go on these road trips and tell very few people, and then start posting photos from there. I know I never got around to posting about my Vancouver trip, and good golly, I'm not sure I'll get around to posting about the Navajo Nation, but at least I'll have Alberta down. This is the Bow! Right ...

Getting Sidetracked in Colorado. And what was just the ticket? An actual train ticket. On Amtrak. Anyone who knew me at any time during my childhood knows my adoration of locomotion, and so understandably it was hard for me to fall asleep just from the excitement alone. That being said, the train was very long- nearly a quarter of a mile. Our coach was towards the back of the train, so it made for great views of the front of the train as we went around bends. And the views were STUNNING. We arrived in Sa...

Once Upon a Great Salt Selfie. I'm thoroughly convinced that I am the only person in the State of Utah that likes swimming in the Great Salt Lake. I love it. I love this pond of salty water so much. When I tell people this, the automatic response is always, "Why? The average depth is 15 feet, with a maximum depth of 33 feet. Because of this, the lake's surface fluctuates greatly based on the water level. And being an terminal lake, the water level does just that. 1) Brine Shrimp Artemia Salina. Saltair I...

That one time when marriage equality came to Utah. I was on campus when I heard the news. I got down to my apartment in Sugarhouse to do some stuff with my dad and as soon as I could, I headed over to the Salt Lake County Justice Courts on State Street. The lobby was full of reporters and celebrators, and even one special couple that was the very first to tie the knot. Going up stairs was an absolute roar. The halls were packed with people, mostly couples waiting to see something amazing happen. To say o...

A is for Awesome. A special note: today's post will be accompanied by Gifs from my all time favorite movie, Easy A). I hope never to be defined. To be defined by others is a hypothetical box to be circumscribed giving you agency whether to abide in it or not. To be defined by your self is to set a foundation that you must build independently upon- and as such is not so easily changed. I wrote about that on this forum. With a few edits added for clarity's sake, here is that post. Almost exactly a year ago...

Making of a Wedding. The last few days of wedding planning were absolutely insane. Well, really the last two weeks were just crazy. Jake and I had our two week break between Spring and Summer semesters so a lot of our planning got restricted to that time period to make sure all loose ends were tied up. It was clearly adorable enough that I took a photo of it. Also, is it still called a dinning room table if our apartment doesn't have a dinning room? Another cat photo. I mean, just look at her! There are ...
