My Adventures in Life

My Adventures in Life. Monday, August 26, 2013. After descending the steep rocky section down Hope Pass the trail levels out into a grassy meadow. The narrow trail is partially hidden by the tall grass waving in the mid morning breeze. The Garmin chirped the 6 mile mark and I began predicting my final stage time. Just over seven downhill miles to go and stage 2 will be in the books. I should finish in about 3 hours. Not bad for the slow climb over Hope Pass. After a mind racing night with little sleep I ...

My Adventures in Life: April 2013

http://briansadventuresinlife.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

My Adventures in Life. Thursday, April 25, 2013. Motivation… or lack there of. Ever since the Woodlands Half. My motivation for running has been low. With low miles I skipped Hog’s Hunt which was probably a mistake. I probably should have at least run the 25K since I need some trail miles. Also, I dropped from 3. Place in my 2013 challenge group which doesn’t really bother me too much, but I do really want the 2013 miles for the year. The goal was to end April at 600 miles, but I’ll be just over 500.

My Adventures in Life: Capt'n Karl's : Pedernales Falls 30K Race Report

http://briansadventuresinlife.blogspot.com/2013/06/captn-karls-pedernales-falls-30k-race.html

My Adventures in Life. Thursday, June 27, 2013. Capt'n Karl's : Pedernales Falls 30K Race Report. I pull into Pedernales Falls State Park. Around 5:30, park in the open field and step out into the furnace that is a Texas summer. Temperature is 98 degrees with a heat index of 112. Yet somehow it seems sane to be about to embark on 30K run after a night of drinking, little sleep, and eating a gas station pulled pork sandwich on the drive up. At this point all roads lead to the TransRockies race. They are c...

My Adventures in Life: Captain Karl’s: Muleshoe Bend 30K Race Report

http://briansadventuresinlife.blogspot.com/2013/07/captain-karls-muleshoe-bend-30k-race.html

My Adventures in Life. Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Captain Karl’s: Muleshoe Bend 30K Race Report. When I stepped out of my car just before race time my phone says the temperature is 101. I was afraid to check out the heat index. You always read “never try something new on race day”, but who am I to follow conventional wisdom. For me just about everything was a first time, some potentially a bigger deal than others. We line up after the 60K crazies come through the out and back at the start. Into the first ai...

Sarah’s Dating Life. You Get What You Pay For…? I know y’all love to hear the tales of my failed dates, and as many of you have been letting me know – it’s been too long since I posted one. So …here we go. I think I’ve waited the requisite amount of time that (I hope) he won’t be reading this…, fingers crossed. I met this guy (let’s call him Adam) online and we chatted a bit before deciding to meet up for a drink. My first mistake was this (and it’s taken me a while to figure this out):. Adam lives in Pe...

A Journey of the Sole. February 21, 2013. Truth is, I. I’m used to the stigma that’s placed on overweight people when they’re exercising. I’ve always been fat, but I’ve always been active, too. Only during my. But despite my extra weight, I’ve always done well at the physical activities I chose to take part in. I was always placed front and center of formations during dance recital numbers, I was the first gymnast in my 7. I run because I like to be outside. I run to spend time with my dog. I run to put ...

Update 12.20.2017. Well, 2017 has certainly been a year. From moving into our first house, to raising an increasingly precious/destructive toddler, to coming up on the halfway mark on the first book of the series, it’s been full of all kinds of accomplishments. By year’s end, the first entry in The Traveler’s Tales series will officially be at 50,000 words! Here’s to a new year, to storytelling, and to knowing the difference between vice and virtue. Artwork inspired by The Traveler’s Tales. There’s...
