The history of Bridgerule. There is more to add and any help or old photos would be greatly appreciated. The picture to the right is the entrance to the old wheel pit at Merrifield where an underground waterwheel produced the power to move the canal tub boats between the 2 canal levels. It is a now a large underground void but the inclined plane and the canal bed can still be made out. Bridgerule Village Post Office. The Post Office opened in the Village Hall in March 2015. It is open on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9-30 am to 1-30pm. Postmaster David and his wife Jackie from Kilkhampton Premier Shop and Post Office run Bridgerule Post Office. They also bring along a selection of groceries, newspapers and other popular items.
