All children were safely returned to their parents yesterday afternoon after a week in Xian, full of memories and experiences which will last for a very long time. The children were able to visit many significant historical sights, spanning 6000 years, and their knowledge and understanding of Chinese history and culture has become more relevant and easier to relate to through firsthand experience. 2009 - Year 5 Xi'an Trip. Thursday, 23 April 2009. We then moved on to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda where we enjoyed our delicious packed lunch in a beautiful pavilion surrounded by peonies and cypress trees. After this we spent a pleasant hour walking around the gardens, sketching and eating ice-creams before heading off to the City Wall. We enjoyed an energetic stroll around this magnificent example of old Chinese city fortifications. Very best wishes from the Year Five Team. The British School of Beijing.

We then visited Gao's Grand Courtyard and experienced the intricacies of a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and watched an enchanting shadow puppet show. Lunch was taken at a famous Muslim restaurant adjoining the iconic Drum and Bell Towers. We enjoyed a taste of the local cuisine - delicious mutton shred cake and cucumber salad. The music and dancing totally captured our attention and the bus on the way back to the hotel was full of excited chatter.
