Adventures in Building a Guitar

Adventures in Building a Guitar. Tuesday, September 19, 2006. The further into this project I get, the more steps back I have to take. It seems that I need to just take a step back all together and come up with a plan of action. On a more positive note, I found a great thread at Project Guitar. About common mistakes to avoid. If you go there you'll get all kinds of information about mistakes that are rather common and easy to avoid. Anyway, when I get a plan of action, I'll post it here. They're based ou...

Adventures in Building a Guitar: The First Drawing

http://builtitbrad.blogspot.com/2006/09/first-drawing.html

Adventures in Building a Guitar. Thursday, September 14, 2006. So I've finished the first drawing! It outlines the basic shape of the body. I have to still figure out the exact dimensions, but I don't expect that to be too hard. I decided to use the Paul Reed Smith McCarty. As the template because it has that nice PRS shape and a little wider fret board - although, as it turns out, that's not yet in the drawing! Tutorials section. By the way, Project Guitar's tutorial section. Posted by Brad at 1:53 AM.

Adventures in Building a Guitar: Thanks to the forum!

http://builtitbrad.blogspot.com/2006/09/thanks-to-forum.html

Adventures in Building a Guitar. Friday, September 15, 2006. Thanks to the forum! So, thank you everyone at the Project Guitar forum! They've been a HUGE help with various things, i.e. reading wood dimensions when ordering it, bolt on vs. set neck, and dimensions of a PRS Custom 24. I've updated the spread sheet a bit. I've put down initial prices for wood from A&M Wood. Sketch of the body outline. Rough sketch of the body with pickups, potentiometers, and bridge. Stay tuned, more to come. View my comple...

Adventures in Building a Guitar: And it starts...

http://builtitbrad.blogspot.com/2006/09/and-it-starts.html

Adventures in Building a Guitar. Wednesday, September 13, 2006. So I've been playing guitar for a while. I used to own a Paul Reed Smith Custom 24. Back when I played Jazz in high school, but unfortunately, it was stolen. After that, I quite playing. I took about 2 years off and decided it was about time for me to get back into it! I currently have a Ibanez RGT-42. But I think it's about time I upgrade! I've narrowed it down to the Paul Reed Smith body style (I'm just a huge fan of PRS, what can I say?
