My History in Art. Why I Paint Watercolor. Watercolor is fun, fun, fun! It is full of challenges unlike any other medium. It's more flexible than any other, too. It can be used to create a very light, almost colorless wash, and laid on thick, right out of the tube for a dramatic accent and effect. You can salt it, mask it, drop alcohol on it to make bubbles, the list goes on and on. You can use netting from garlic bags to create texture, or wipe it off with Kleenex to create clouds. While you are there.
