Let's go and see what happens. On weekends, crowds of locals day trip to Hout Bay. To enjoy its market. Just a ways from the center of town along Chapmans Peak Drive is a working harbor-turned-tourist trap. Among the colorful boats at Hout Bay are plenty of charters (such as Circe Launches. Camera-toting tourists board glass-bottomed boats for a subaquatic and open air view of brown fur seals. If you can stomach it, the short journey makes for a fun photographic expedition. Let's go and see what happens. Anytime vacationing in wine country is an option, my answer is a definitive YES. My friend, Katie, invited me and four other gals to celebrate her 40th birthday in Mendoza. Each of our three days was unique, but sublime! As a city, Mendoza lacks the charm of a wine country downtown like Napa Valley or Stellenbosch. Still, there’s plenty of great dining and shopping. I found retail to be far pricier than in Buenos Aires. I must mention…the ice cream at Bianco and Nero. Each ...

Let's go and see what happens. Called the Monaco of South America, Punta del Este is a Uruguayan resort town growing in popularity. I booked Michelangelo Apartamentos. To be centrally located on the peninsula between the golden sands and tame waters of Playa Mansa. And the khaki sands and rough waves of Playa Brava. The 11th floor views couldn’t be beat! The peninsula divides Rio de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean. Our apartment located near Terminal Punta Este and The Hand. Via a two-hour COT bus. Watch...

Let's go and see what happens. The southernmost tip of the African continent, was previously called Cape of Storms because of the many shipwrecks these waters have seen. Cape Agulhas marks the official divide between Atlantic and Indian Oceans although the actual currents dividing the oceans fluctuates seasonally between here and westward to Cape Point. The colliding currents and the fierce wind patterns make the passage hazardous for ships but fun for tourists visiting by land. Between Arniston and Cape...

Let's go and see what happens. December 13, 2015. Who knew 24 hours in Park City could be so much fun? When you love hiking and skiing but live in a place as flat as Chicago, you have to get creative. Having visited Salt Lake City in 2003, I knew that you could make it from the airport to the mountains in just 25 minutes. Over Tuesday dinner, my friend Purani asked if I wanted to take a weekend trip to visit nature. Four days and two cheap plane tickets […]. December 7, 2015. November 4, 2015. As a city,...

Let's go and see what happens. Zanzibar became known as “Spice Islands” as a result of the numerous clove plantations established during the 18th century while the archipelago was under sultan rule. I knew of the spice market in Stone Town, but decided to “one up” that experience by visiting Mtausa Spice Farm in Kizimbani Town. Although I love cooking with spice, I knew very little about how spices are grown and harvested. The farm, located just outside of Stone Town and near Kizimbani Persian Baths.
