The Mouth of the South Blog

The Mouth of the South Blog. Sunday, June 26, 2016. There's no place like home. Repeat that, Dorothy style. That's this summer's motto. We found a house and closed on it mid March and were able to finally move in April 30th, just in time for summer. We've been blessed with a gorgeous home far nicer than the one we almost purchased and for the same cost, to boot. It's funny how things works out. Life is good. I hope you're staying cool in this summer heat. Stay tuned and I'll see you real soon. It's daunt...

The Mouth of the South Blog: 03/01/2014 - 04/01/2014

http://bywayofthebay.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

The Mouth of the South Blog. Friday, March 14, 2014. We made a day trip to San Antonio the other Saturday and what a perfect day to do so. We finally had a break between rainy and cold days; the clouds parted and the sun shone, the temperatures stayed cool and it felt like heaven. For our day trip, I was on a mission to get to the market (a.k.a. El Mercado or Market Square). The market is downtown and has leveled parking for a fee that makes it very convenient to get to. One daughter was glued to her pho...

The Mouth of the South Blog: Spring Beauties

http://bywayofthebay.blogspot.com/2015/03/spring-beauties.html

The Mouth of the South Blog. Friday, March 20, 2015. South Texas has seen a lot of rain. The blue bonnets lining the highways near my house are evidence of that rain. Just when you begin cursing all that rainy weather for ruining plans like getting the dogs out to jog, doing home repairs, getting kids out and active, and canceling sports practices and games, nature slaps you with a sight of something beautiful, a reminder that there is purpose for those blessed rains.your plans be damned.

The Mouth of the South Blog. Saturday, April 27, 2013. A Play House for Our Daughter. Recently, I shared a post with many charming playhouse pictures. We'd wanted to build our youngest a playhouse for her birthday, but I was skeptical that we could complete it in time. Well, hubs had the weekend off this past week so we set to work. Here are pics of our progress. Hubs started out with the frame for the floor. Yours truly secured the floor. Hey, I love power tools. ;). Until then, have a wonderful week.

The Mouth of the South Blog: Meet the newest member of our family

http://bywayofthebay.blogspot.com/2015/03/meet-newest-member-of-our-family.html

The Mouth of the South Blog. Sunday, March 22, 2015. Meet the newest member of our family. We found this little beauty wandering the streets of a friend's neighborhood near Christmastime. We called into Lost Pet hotline, searched craigslist, and fidofinder for lost dog ads, etc. and no one seemed to be on the lookout. She's got some unique markings and our vet said to be sure to ask about those should someone call, but with no microchip or collar we were doubtful anyone would be looking. Rescued January,...

The Mouth of the South Blog. Saturday, July 26, 2014. I love seeing tours of old homes on blogs. Between Naps on the Porch blog. Let's knock and go on in. Here, a timeline of Rulers associated with Bran Castle. A view from a castle window. What castle is complete without its own armory? The torture tools add a homey touch. I hope you enjoyed this little tour into Romanian culture. Have a good weekend. Links to this post. Monday, July 21, 2014. Castles and Carpathian Mountains. The first time I traveled t...

The Piney Woods Housewife: Chocolate Zucchini Bread

http://pineywoodshousewife.blogspot.com/2011/07/chocolate-zucchini-bread.html

The Piney Woods Housewife. Saturday, July 16, 2011. I made this and all i gotta say is.this is our new favorite bread! Plus i am not a fan of "hiding" ingredients in food, our kids love zucchini and they helped me grate it to put in the bread. This really is a recipe that the kids can easily help with. 1 1/2 cups shredded raw zucchini. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted. 1 teaspoon baking soda. 1/4 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/2 cup canola oil.

http://pineywoodshousewife.blogspot.com/2011/07/365gallon.html

The Piney Woods Housewife. Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Back in April the husband decided to purchase a Jeep, which is great, because they are so much fun! So my time of reckoning came when my pal asked me to dinner and when she came to get me nonchalantly asked if we could take the Jeep. Sure, why not? At that moment my wonderful husband comes around the corner and opens the door for me *swoon* IT IS the little things, right? A Piney Woods housewife. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Piney Woods Housewife. Friday, July 15, 2011. I was saved by a man with two words, medium heat. I am feeling enormous amounts of pressure seeing as I have, oh wait, ZERO followers! Alright now that I have that out of the way I can begin. In the words of Sophia Petrillo ( my favorite from the Golden Girls). There it is, my first blog. I could get used to this. Here we go, off into the cyber universe. A Piney Woods housewife. July 15, 2011 at 10:22 PM. Its official; now, keep it up.

After all we had been through with medical science you can imagine my shock when two and half years later i awoke.Pregnant! Just another WordPress.com site. Laquo; More River Road – Vacherie. Industrial Landscapes of Louisiana-The New Plantation. April 30, 2011. Driving around there for the most part felt like time had come to a standstill. I became lost in the rich layers of history. It is still lush and the sugar cane was high and swaying in the breeze. Its far from perfect, but it is real, and it has retained its unique culture, which is as rich as its fertile soil. Night Shooting in Louisiana photographed by susan Grissom.

Tamale Pie Recipe

Tools of the Trade. Home & Garden. How To Start a Food Blog. August 7, 2012. It’s quite possibly the most genius dish ever invented. Cornbread is the perfect accompaniment to chili, which makes this recipe all the more perfect. Summer be damned, bring on the chili! So I started building my own based on my favorite flavors, ingredients and, most importantly, what was ripe in the garden! Two quick notes on the recipe:. If you’re a fellow olive hater, you can totally leave them out. 1 hour 30 minutes. 1 cup...

By Way of River. Sunday, February 27, 2011. Top 5 Worst US Cities. So after surviving a miserable Ohio winter and nearly succumbing to the urge to run head first into oncoming traffic, but falling short because I was not even healthy enough to get out of bed, I have had loads of time for my hatred of Cincinnati, Ohio to ferment. And by now the hate is bubbling over like a cliched junior high school science fair project. Cincinnati I loathe you! What good things can we say about Cleveland? Not to worry yo...

The Colorado Movie Tragedy. Today, the world of cinema changed forever. And it really fucking sucks. What was once holy ground for cinema-lovers, and has been for over a century, has now been tainted by the mindless, cruel and downright abhorrent actions of one hideous, hideous man. The tragedy of the whole event goes beyond what words can describe. I’m sitting here trying to write, and words are simply failing me. That rarely happens. They loved the cinema. And so do we.
