The View From the Canoe. Thoughts and photos from the inside of my canoe. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. A splash to my left, probably a fish, but I only see the action of the water. An osprey to my right drops down out of a tree. No doubt the osprey has seen everything in the super-detail of a bird's eyesight. It sweeps over the spot and continues, either not seeing the prey or seeing a prey that is too large. In the farthest out of the arms of the cove, I spy a swan nest while four osprey circle overhead.

I let her sleep long in the morning, so our day started hours later than normal for me. The 4 inch pvc pipe sticking out of the mud is actually the body of a ornate ceramic creamer. A heavy clay piece is a bicycle pedal once the mud is rinsed off. I gather several more objects. But, it is warm and the soaked landscape brings a quiet to the air, a quiet that only becomes more perfect when the sprinkle of raindrops, near and far, mingle into a curtain that excludes the man made sounds that permeate nature.
