Paddling upstream: Building a Cedar and Canvas Canoe : Tuesday
http://canoez.blogspot.com/2008/08/building-cedar-and-canvas-canoe-tuesday.html
A small boat blog with a mish-mosh of life thrown in! Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Building a Cedar and Canvas Canoe : Tuesday. The steam boxes weren't fancy affairs. As you can see, there are some large propane tanks which feed big burners like are used for a crab boil. A closed top container ( loosely. Closed) is kept fairly full of water. A radiator hose feeds steam to the wooden box which has a rack to keep the ribs off the bottom and a well fitting end cap. The ribs then steamed for 45 minutes. To fair...

The following video is a time-lapse web-cam documentation of the building of a cedar and canvas canoe from scratch up at Northwoods Canoe Company. Up in Atkinson, Maine. It's owned by Rollin Thurlow. Paddling upstream: Tech Tip Tuesday
http://canoez.blogspot.com/2012/02/tech-tip-tuesday.html
A small boat blog with a mish-mosh of life thrown in! Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Probably one of the hardest things to get across is how to select good stock. Students making canoe paddles in my class are looking for one thing, students making oars and Greenland Style paddles are looking for something else and those making double-bladed paddles are looking for both! Yeah Doesn't work so well. So, we're going to take another approach. To wit, pictures. Worth at least a thousand words. Why are we so picky?

Paddling upstream: Tech Tip Tuesday
http://canoez.blogspot.com/2014/02/tech-tip-tuesday.html
A small boat blog with a mish-mosh of life thrown in! Tuesday, February 25, 2014. As I picked up a copy of W.P. Stephens' Canoe and Boat Building : A Complete Manual for Amatuers. From my bookshelf, I was hearing the strains of a song from the Barenaked Ladies. Am I out of my gourd? Some would probably say yes, and, well, they're probably right. But in a good way. The song refrain that was in my head was, "It's all been done before! Canoe Hugh Horton's Bufflehead. Professor Howard Rice's sailing canoe is...

Paddling upstream: Not Quite Wordless Wednesday
http://canoez.blogspot.com/2014/04/not-quite-wordless-wednesday.html
A small boat blog with a mish-mosh of life thrown in! Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Not Quite Wordless Wednesday. Not liking Spring snow? The new grass and small bulbs sprouting through the snow, were exquisite to see. Sure youre not happier south 50 or 60 miles, more toward the shore? Then again, they average more snow than we do. Meanwhile, lets hope the Greenland ice mass has increased this year. Planetary rally. Go Gaia! Gotta love it. - Chris Bowen. April 17, 2014 at 8:58 PM. Some of my favorite blogs:.
