Diecastination: October 2010

Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Consider the Rocks Shocked! In 2009 Matchbox introduced a rock crawlers dream to their line-up. The Rock Shocker now has a fresh coat of paint and is ready to hit the trail hard again in 2010. Custom bumpers protect the front and rear, with a roll bar protecting the squish bits inside. Everything rides on a long arm suspension allowing excellent suspension travel with a stable low stance. Links to this post. Monday, October 11, 2010. The next thing that really caught my attenti...

Diecastination: One HOT Willy's Jeep
http://diecastination.blogspot.com/2012/12/one-hot-willy-jeep.html
Monday, December 3, 2012. One HOT Willys Jeep. The old flat fender Willy's Jeep is a highly revered classic. The Matchbox model is truly beautiful. But what I wanted to do was make my Willy's ready to tackle the terrain and eat boulders for breakfast. Originally I set about fabricating a roll cage from brass rod, meticulously filing and soldering away. At first things were going well and I was making steady progress. But then I pushed my luck and poof! And the best part of all? It was easy as pie. Boxing...

Diecastination: All Jacked Up - Custom Diecast Lift Kits

Wednesday, August 10, 2011. All Jacked Up - Custom Diecast Lift Kits. The other day I was looking through some trucks in my diecast collection and I was gripped with the burning desire to help my old FJ40 reach new heights, by any means necessary. I must admit I was feeling pretty smug after I lay down my hex driver and examined my handy work. Excepting a few minor details that need some future attention, the conversion looked excellent! The Path Beater is a solid quarter ton pickup that looks like it wo...

The level of detail immediately made this one of my favorite casting and I own quite a few of them now. You've seen me add a lift kit to my safari FJ40 in the past, here. This time I wanted to go for something a bit more subtle. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Heating up the MBX FJ40. 1971 Ford Mustang Mach1. My Die Cast Life. I am going to need one of those too. It is always nice to breath some life into a long term project and this little Toyota is really coming along nicely. Links to this post. Diecastination: Raptor Attack!
http://diecastination.blogspot.com/2010/11/raptor-attack.html
Sunday, November 7, 2010. Fords in-house performance specialists decided to give off-road enthusiasts something to cheer about in 2010. Enter the F-150 Raptor, the purpose built Baja pre-runner designed by the team at SVT. Matchbox welcomes the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor in the 2010 Desert Endurance Series. The hood is marred by ultra aggressive air extractors, massive vents designed to allow hot air to escape from under the hood, keeping vital engine components cool in extreme conditions. While equi...

Diecastination: March 2012

Friday, March 30, 2012. Can You Hear The Wind? In 2010 Jun Imai captured the Mazda Furai as one of Hot Wheels new models. Though only a concept car the Furai is a fully functional car featuring a 3-rotor Wankel motor pumping out 450bhp and has been put through it's paces on various race tracks including Laguna Seca. I think the Furai was well deserving of some racing shoes. Zoom Zoom. Links to this post. Thursday, March 29, 2012. Real Riders on One Hot Jeep Scrambler. Links to this post. Is it a Crime?

Diecastination: February 2012

Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Swap Shop: Land Cruiser FJ40 and Sahara Survivor. I always love it when a wheel swap goes well. I love it all the more when a wheel swap goes both ways. Having just picked up a few of the 2011 Hot Wheels Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40s I knew at least one of them was going to get some new shoes. Introduced in 2010 from designer Jun Imai (think Sandblaster) this new FJ40 is a great example of an outfitted desert racer. There was of course one complaint, the wheels. Links to this post.
