The Adventures of Valya: April 2015
http://valyakomkova.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
The Adventures of Valya. Art makes the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Oh my my my my, what an eager little mind! Sunday, April 26, 2015. I have neglected my little blog. I know consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, but really what does that mean? I am consistent in my artwork, in my observations of the world, in my daily rituals. I am inconsistent in house cleaning, in gardening, in answering email. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Flatlands Dance Theatre- 2014.

The Adventures of Valya. Art makes the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Oh my my my my, what an eager little mind! Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Places in the Heart. Here then, are a few places that feel magical to me, that have left a deep imprint in my memory and my soul. I have used only family photos so that rather than show a perfect glossy professional view of each location, I remember it as it was on that particular day. Paladuro Canyon, 2011- Only two hours away lies "the little Grand Cany...

The Adventures of Valya. Art makes the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Oh my my my my, what an eager little mind! Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Another refreshing trip to Santa Fe and Taos. What's not to love? The calm and simple decor of the St. Francis Hotel, and two pink gins in their bar. It used to s...

The Adventures of Valya: March 2014

The Adventures of Valya. Art makes the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Oh my my my my, what an eager little mind! Thursday, March 20, 2014. I have used the limitations of black and white before in artwork and in my sketchbooks. My series Absolutely Your Zen adhered to these rules by following each letter of the alphabet and only rendering each letter in black and white. Artists do indeed need rules. They also need chaos. It's that whole dichotomy thing. We all play our part in this world.

The Adventures of Valya. Art makes the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Oh my my my my, what an eager little mind! Friday, June 5, 2015. Put a Pachyderm On It. I have been known to put lots of birds in my artwork. They are bright, tiny, colourful, and appealing. Well, maybe not my grackles. Some people don't like grackles. I just think of them as crow's bratty younger siblings. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Flatlands Dance Theatre- 2014. Photo by Naomi Hill. Photo by Naomi Hill.

The Adventures of Valya: No Subject Matter

The Adventures of Valya. Art makes the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Oh my my my my, what an eager little mind! Friday, March 6, 2015. If I want to use some computer skills I go into Corel and crop an even smaller section, then play with colour variations, as with the two pieces above. That way, if I want to recreate them on a canvas on a bigger scale I can see which colour choices work best:. Then cropping it and using my Corel program to desaturate the colour:. Note: Only a member of this ...
