California 2015: Yosemite National Park
http://hennesseycalifornia2015.blogspot.com/2015/06/yosemite-national-park.html
Sunday, June 7, 2015. John, Adam, Bob, Chris, Mitchell. Bob, John, Chris and I hadn't been to Yosemite National Park. A storm brewing in the mountains. Sheets of rain at the Ahwahnee Hotel. John had an agenda that included Bridalveil Waterfall. And the Ahwahnee Hotel. And Chris had El Capitan. On his list. We saw them all, though the big thunderstorm cramped our style a little. I hope some of that rain flows down to Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley. It was another perfect day.. Very Short 49-Mile Drive.

California 2015: Lunch in Carmel
http://hennesseycalifornia2015.blogspot.com/2015/06/lunch-in-carmel.html
Thursday, June 4, 2015. Looking at the menu. Carmel is always so full of visitors that it's hard to find a parking space, but Bob is persistent and skilled. On our first trip to California, we were in Carmel on a cold winter evening and I got a glimpse of Clint Eastwood through a window, and that was excitement enough for me then. Yesterday we were a little hungry and Bob stopped the car in the middle of the street to ask a truck driver how to find the Hog's Breath Inn. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

California 2015: A Day with the Hennesseys
http://hennesseycalifornia2015.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-day-with-hennesseys.html
Wednesday, June 10, 2015. A Day with the Hennesseys. Hennesseys all: Chris, Michele behind first cousin Bob; John, Adam, Mitchell. The best part of Sunday was breakfast with Michele Hennessey at her upper floor apartment in San Francisco's downtown. The view of the city and the bay from Michele's balcony is spectacular, especially on this sunny morning. We also got to see city and bay views from the roof of her building; I had forgotten the beautiful serenity of Michele's home. Fortunately, a server adop...

California 2015: Unsripted Monterey Bay
http://hennesseycalifornia2015.blogspot.com/2015/06/unsripted-monterey-bay.html
Wednesday, June 3, 2015. View from our balcony. The drive to Monterey was lovely but unappreciated, since we were weary and simply wanted to get to our destination for the night. The farms we passed on the way didn't seem water deprived but, as always, it was little shocking to see families working in the fields, bent and slow moving in the afternoon sun. I sometimes forget that the California strawberries and avocados are often (always? Here we are, enjoying a drink in the lobby. Very Short 49-Mile Drive.

California 2015: 17-Mile Drive
http://hennesseycalifornia2015.blogspot.com/2015/06/17-mile-drive.html
Thursday, June 4, 2015. A little play time. The morning was a little blustery, almost like a fall day with a threat of rain. What was I thinking when I brought only my thin Minnesota Vikings jacket, the freebie from Sports Illustrated? It turned out to be enough as the day warmed a little and we decided on 17-Mile Drive. As our main activity. We were tempted to wait for sun but the forecast wasn't promising so we set off toward Carmel in mid-morning. The famous "lone dypress". Very Short 49-Mile Drive.

Florida Roadtrip 2016: Last Days
http://hennesseyflorida2016.blogspot.com/2016/04/last-days.html
Saturday, April 2, 2016. Friday was a beautiful day. We had lunch at The Moon Under Water. The biggest thrill of the afternoon was watching a guy with a jetpack high above the water in front of our condo. After a spectacular sunset on Pass-a-Grille, we treated ourselves to ice cream at Paradise Sweets. We used our time to pack for our departure tomorrow and had a late lunch at Leverock's. Florida Roadtrip 2016: Day at the Beach
http://hennesseyflorida2016.blogspot.com/2016/03/day-at-beach.html
Thursday, March 17, 2016. Day at the Beach. Don Cesar Hotel in the distance. Yesterday seemed like a perfect day to spend at the beach: a mid-week day with lots of sun, not too hot. We weren't disappointed, though plenty of others had the same idea and we had to drive to Pass-a-Grille, south on the Don Cesar Hotel. To find a parking space. We hoisted out bag chairs on our shoulders and walked across the boardwalk to the beach, carrying only our towels, sunscreen, water and small camera. Top of this blog.

Florida Roadtrip 2016: Eye Opener
http://hennesseyflorida2016.blogspot.com/2016/04/eyes-opened-to-new-glasses.html
Saturday, April 2, 2016. On Wednesday afternoon when we were at Bubba Gump's for lunch, Bob's sunglasses fell apart. Bob dropped the lens and loose screw into one of the baggies I carry in my purse. The first hit on my "optician St. Pete Beach" Google query was Modern Optics. On Corey Avenue, only a mile or so from our condo. Serves a clientele from all over the country. I certainly don't have to project a "conservative" or "serious" image. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Florida Roadtrip 2016: Fun Day in St. Petersburg
http://hennesseyflorida2016.blogspot.com/2016/03/fun-day-in-st-petersburg.html
Thursday, March 10, 2016. Fun Day in St. Petersburg. Linda O. and I were classmates at De La Salle High School in Temiscaming, Québec. Hometown, but we weren't particularly close. It's been a joy to get to know her over the last couple of years, from our Temiscaming reunions in the fall and a couple of lunches here in Florida. Our husbands also get along well, so I was looking forward to today's lunch at Jack's London Grill, suggested by Linda. Hard to get a good picture from behind a fence. The racers w...

Florida Roadtrip 2016: Mini-Tuesday: March 15, 2016
http://hennesseyflorida2016.blogspot.com/2016/03/mini-tuesday-march-15-2016.html
Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Mini-Tuesday: March 15, 2016. I'm a political junkie; always have been. I think this primary season is my favorite campaign of all time, even better than the 1980 Canadian federal election. As a staffer for then MP Senator Marcel Prud'homme, I was personally involved in that one, and I was proud to play a small role in Canadian political history. Have become very aggressive and nasty. This NY Times analysis. Identifies some key metrics to review when I watch election returns this...
