AFTER Africa: Green v. Brown

http://celiajeffries.blogspot.com/2014/08/green-v-brown.html

Friday, August 29, 2014. Green v. Brown. Although it was my greatest fear about living in Africa, I had not seen a snake since I arrived in my village. Evidence of them sometimes appeared—the zig-zag single track from the brick wall into the compound—did the landlord's car obliterate the track? Did a dog get the snake? Was it still somewhere within the compound? The next day I asked Rra Sekobolo why people denuded their plots of land. It’s the snakes, he said. They live in the green grass.

Wednesday, October 31, 2012. As we bumped along a certain rhythm overtook us. Long periods of quiet interrupted by animal sightings (Elephant on left! For the record: lions roar when they have satisfied themselves and their lady. Also for the record: don't blink or you'll miss it. We were so taken with these elephants, we decided to try riding one once we were in Zimbabwe. We still walk like cowboys who have been in the saddle too long. Posted by celia jeffries. Monday, September 17, 2012. Posted by celia jeffries. Friday, September 7, 2012. Once we managed to convince Spike that we were in charge, the day began with 46 students eager to become counsellors. We did ice-breakers such as "kingdom, wisdom, condom" (can't wait to bring that back to the states) and the time-honored game of 'telephone' which proved once again that you can't believe what someone whispers in your ear. Then she showed us how happy she was with the learners and their counselling skills.

Mr. & Mrs. Chan in Life

Mr and Mrs. Chan in Life. What's going on recently? Keep my blog alive!

Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Photo by Mary Vazquez. This is my prayer for our country and our world this coming February—that we can all find common ground. Posted by celia jeffries. Oliver: A Story of Love | Author | Celia J. Esquivel

Welcome to the official site of author Celia J. Esquivel. A story about self-discovery and the realization that things happen at a certain moment in time for a reason, even if we don’t know what that reason is. They both benefited and learned, and as far as the human is concerned, she truly came into being her truer herself, and opened herself to being vulnerable. Lastly, it’s a book about how much we can learn, especially from animals if we only let ourselves open to experiencing love.
