Modeling actomyosin network dynamics. Agent-based models allow us to ask: Does what we know about the parts and their interactions add up to an explanation for the emergent dynamics of the whole system? If not, what might be missing? If so, can we infer simpler mechanistic principles that govern the behavior of the system? Can we design key experiments to test these principles? Center for Cell Dynamics.

Cellular Morphogenesis of Ascidians II: Notochord Morphogenesis. In recent years, cell biologists have begun to uncover and characterize the machinery that individual cells use to generate local contractile or protrusive forces, to polarize, to establish and transmit forces through local adhesive contacts with one another or with extracellular substrata, and so on. This core machinery turns out to be strikingly conserved within the animal kingdom. How do differently fated embryonic cells regulate the loc...

Welcome to the Munro Lab! We work at the interface between experimental and computational cell biology. Our mission: To understand how the dynamics of embryonic cell and tissue behavior emerge through the interplay between regulatory biochemistry, cytoskeletal dynamics and cytomechanics.
