Website of the Historic Rose Garden in Sacramento's Historic City Cemetery. The Historic Rose Garden is dedicated to the preservation of California's heritage roses. It contains nearly 500 antique and old garden roses with particular emphasis on those roses found in abandoned sites, homesteads, cemeteries, and roadsides throughout northern California. Cemetery volunteers are assisted by the Sheriff's Work Crews on weekends who clear paths, clean up weeds and haul off pruning trash. If you wish to volunteer at other times, a list of tasks is left in the Rose Garden mailbox, just waiting for you. There's something for everyone! Wintertime is pruning time.
