Sunday, September 27, 2009. It is time to bring this blog to an end. John rolled back into Florida yesterday around noon. The end of this adventure is again, bittersweet. We love being on the road and we love being home. The saga will continue . stay tuned . On his way back from the center of America, John stopped off to see his friends, Phil and Cheryl, who live deep in the Amish country of Tennessee. Thursday, March 28, 2013. Last bud for awhile. I promise to move on . Can you see them in this photo? There are three, all looking right at me). Meanwhile, budding is coming along despite the winter weather. Monday, March 25, 2013. Yet one more snow. We keep saying that that's the last of the snow, and then we get more. What is it about Mondays? Last Monday was the ice day and this morning we woke up to about 6 inches of snow on the ground! Here comes the sidewalk plow. I think we will stay home today.

Tuesday, July 30, 2013. A sign of what's coming? The weather continues to be delightful - cool mornings, mostly sunny days, not hot! We're starting to notice some coloring of leaves. Sunday, February 24, 2013. A great tree falls. This tree was unusual because it was really a "twin" tree, growing up beside another tree - Siamese twins that didn't split until after emerging from the ground. I wonder what caused it to fall. It didn't appear to be sick or diseased. Perhaps lightning? The tree(s) was larger than most of the surrounding trees. I wonder if the remaining tree is now unbalanced. Thursday, May 30, 2013. The Swamp Water Cafe and Billie Swamp Safari. Lunch time and the nearest (only) place for miles around is the Swamp Water Cafe, so that is where we went! Casino attached to the cafe. The cafe, a zoo of sorts, a camp, a safari . greeting by a huge tortoise . Cattle and swamp . Kumquat pie (but we didn't have any) . we had "Indian" tacos .
