Outdoor adventures at Pearl Creek Farm and beyond! These are recent satellite images from Google Maps. The summer image (top) is configured around our farm borders. The bottom image is a winter image. Near the edges of the images, you can catch a few glimpses of trails that run along the inside of the fence around the place. This schematic shows three broad burn units (A, B, C), separated by the creeks, and a grid overlay that identifies sections of the farm (including burn subunits).

Bryanlikestofish: What's in a thesis?
http://www.bryanlikestofish.com/2013/01/whats-in-thesis.html
Jan 27, 2013. What's in a thesis? 2012 was the year of the thesis for me. For those of you that don't know me, I was a master's student at the University of Idaho. In the College of Natural Resources. Let's just say it literally could not have worked out any better for me, and I was, and still am, tickled pink. This means I'm finally a big kid with a real job and everything, right? Seriously though, there was a butt-load of people there. To make a long story short, I finished all of my edits on December ...

Bryanlikestofish: Tiny Tarpon of the North
http://www.bryanlikestofish.com/2014/06/tiny-tarpon-of-north.html
Jun 2, 2014. Tiny Tarpon of the North. Fishing for American shad in the Bonneville Dam tailrace has been on my to-do list for at least five or six years. However, I'm always so busy in the spring with field work that I haven't had the chance to do it. until now. A couple weekends ago the stars aligned and my wife and I both had almost (almost.) two full days off work! So we quickly threw our kids, dogs, and camping stuff into the car and headed down the river! The first of many shad! I like this kid!

Bryanlikestofish: Sometimes Elephants Eat Peanuts
http://www.bryanlikestofish.com/2014/11/sometimes-elephants-eat-peanuts.html
Nov 16, 2014. Sometimes Elephants Eat Peanuts. I pulled one of my leave-after-work-sleep-in-my-car-fish-all-day stunts. I'm sure the scenery was amazing on the way there and back, but I missed it all since it was dark the whole time, so no pictures. You'll have to settle for some wildlife that joined me on the riverbank. I could have spit on this doe (don't worry. I didn't). For some reason she was much more interested in a dog 100 yards down the bank than my ugly mug 3 yards away. The trip was a success!

Jul 7, 2014. The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. Whoever decided to discontinue Surge should be strung up by their toenails). Anyway I was due for some revenge. Last year I began to discover that central Washington is actually pretty good for catfishing, and there's even several different species to pursue, which I appreciated! This one is a yellow bullhead. They're called that because they're yellow. This brown bullhead was caught while perch fishing. No perch were harmed in the making of this photo. Gettin...
