Swimming With Otters: ‘A Gimmick With Real Bite’ – Animal Realities
https://drdanielallen.wordpress.com/2016/01/28/swimming-with-otters
January 28, 2016. January 28, 2016. Swimming With Otters: ‘A Gimmick With Real Bite’. A fortnight ago a reporter for the website Care2 contacted me about a place in Southern California where the public can pay to swim with otters. Where an older press enquiry ‘Can An Otter Take Down A Human? Tickled the funny bone and led to a serious response; the question ‘Should You Swim With Otters? Really played on my mind. A scan of the Nurtured by Nature. Having made no secret that otters are my animal obsession.

Graham Hush Photography: Barnes Common - back to my new favourite spot
http://grahamhushphotography.blogspot.com/2012/02/barnes-common-back-to-my-new-favourite.html
Sunday, 19 February 2012. Barnes Common - back to my new favourite spot. Over the last few weekends, I have been heading back to Barnes Common. This area of south west London is fast becoming my favourite area for watching and photographing urban wildlife. Even though it's a busy route for commuters walking to and from the station, it's large enough to get lost in and away from everyone else. It seems this pigeon had seen the weather forecast and had prepared for the snow by digging out its Arctic camouf...

Graham Hush Photography: October 2011

Sunday, 30 October 2011. Richmond park deer rut - Part 2. A couple of weekends ago, I went back to Richmond Park to see the deer rut. It was my aim this time to show Kelly some rutting stags and, I'm glad to say, the stags were obliging. After locking up my bike, I was immediately greeted with the familiar roar of a dominant stag, this one with a group of hinds to watch over. There was the usual group of large stags and hinds a short walk from Pembroke Lodge. Followed by a led walk around the park. I...

Graham Hush Photography: July 2011
http://grahamhushphotography.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 12 July 2011. Barnes Common - A different location and 2 nice discoveries. This weekend I decided I'd try somewhere new to take some photos. I was aware of where Barnes common is, I'd walked past it, been in taxis and buses which went past it, but never actually had a walk through it. So that's what I did. In the process, I made a couple of nice little discoveries. Unfortunately, at this point, the damselflies were about as much as I could see on the stream, so I moved on. As I moved away from t...

Graham Hush Photography: Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust - Portraits
http://grahamhushphotography.blogspot.com/2012/01/wildfowl-wetlands-trust-portraits.html
Friday, 13 January 2012. Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust - Portraits. A couple of weekends ago, at a loose end, I paid another visit to the London Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Barnes. My visit was full of hope that I would see the illusive Bittern but, again, no, it was not playing along. Then, suddenly, a meteor started to fall from the sky! Luckily, for all around, this Eider duck spotted it and warned everyone else. Location: 87 Wyatt Dr, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, London SW13, UK. Stock ph...

Graham Hush Photography: The Wash in winter
http://grahamhushphotography.blogspot.com/2011/12/wash-in-winter.html
Thursday, 29 December 2011. The Wash in winter. This week, while I was visiting my parents for Christmas, I decided that, rather than relaxing, having a lie in and generally getting ready for the New Year, I would instead wake up at 5 am and drive to the RSPB Snettisham nature reserve. To watch and photograph the Pink-footed Geese spectacular. He flew from bramble to bramble and then off to find his breakfast elsewhere. Watching all of these birds go and find their breakfast made me realise that my b...
