IS IT TRUE SOAP? Did you know that many products on the market labeled as soap may not be true soaps at all? Even though their labels may contain wording that call them soap, these so-called soaps are really synthetic detergents containing petroleum-based cleansing agents. The FDA regulates these pseudo-soaps as cosmetics and requires labeling of all ingredients. The FDA defines true soap as a product whose bulk of nonvolatile matter consists of an alkali salt of fatty acids aka, real soap!
