The Delicate Balance between Research and Ethics. An Intelligence Quotient is a score which assesses the participant’s intelligence. This is an example of a typical question in a test for IQ.: Which of the figures is the odd one out? Some of the most important questions that are raised by the use of IQ as a test of intelligence are whether it really is measuring intelligence and whether it is a reliable method of measuring it. Violent Films and Children. Anorexia – Who is to blame? What are the causes of anorexia that are present in our culture but not in Eastern society? Tozzi, Sullivan, Fear, McKenzie and Bulik(2003) showed how girls with anorexia blamed having a dysfunctional family on their reason for developing the disorder. This is self report data so people may not be totally honest but generally, one would assume the girls were truthful with their reasons. Why are some people influenced by the media and others not?
Fairy Tales | chelseaandpsychology

Just another WordPress.com site. Can the Heart Store Memories? Should you Go with your Gut? Abortion leads to mental health problems? March 8, 2012. In 2009 a study by Priscilla Coleman and colleagues made a very big claim, that woman who had abortions were more likely to be diagnosed with mental health problems later in life. no only was this claim very big, but it was also very false. If the above statement is in fact true it is surely not proven by this study. This argument is flawed. To say she w...

Just another WordPress.com site. Stereotyping in psychiatry affects the way that individuals are diagnosed and unfortunately there are numerous ways in which doctors can be influenced. Because of these influences on diagnoses it makes it difficult for us to safely safe that people are diagnosed from just their symptoms alone when factors such as these so obviously influence the doctors opinion. The methodology needs to be clear so that there can be no misunderstanding of terms, and therefore no misunderstanding of measures and techniques. Therefore, should it be included in mental health books such as the DSM? More evidence is needed to support or refute the disorder particularly empirical evidence. The disorder was included under axis II of DSM-IV but will, most likely, be removed from the 5. Levy, K.N., R...Thous...
