An account of my attempts to try and improve my chess. Saturday, July 08, 2006. More of a focus on playing. Again, I haven't posted for a while. Partly this is because I've been busy at work. And partly I just haven't felt so enthusiastic about MDLM training. I have still been plugging away at CT Art. Running it on a mobile device has been a real benefit, as I can fit in the odd half hour at lunchtime etc, and if it wasn't for this then I suspect things might have ground to a halt. Wednesday, May 28, 2008. So what is the plan in this position. I worked hard to get a good bishop, pawn structure, space and opponents passive pieces. Isn't a B vs N endgame with pawns on both sides of the board better for the B (or is that only when the rooks are off too)? Couldn't do a thing with it. I evaluated this position with me having the significant advantage. Crafty has us nearly equal. This game showed me if you can't evaluate who has the better position your play will suffer.
