Straight Outta Davis: February 2007
http://straight-outta-davis.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 28, 2007. It's Dan's last day of work at the Dept of Finance, after 7.5 years! I hope they give him a good send-off. Two Picasso paintings were stolen. From his granddaughter's house in Paris. These thefts of major art works are mysterious to me. What is the motivation to steal a painting you will never be able to sell or display publicly? Did the thief just want to hang it on his bedroom wall? Posted by Katherine @ 11:45 AM. Monday, February 26, 2007. Owen took a fall. Owen found out...

Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo. I took the boys to the Sacramento Zoo this afternoon. We had a good time. This picture was actually taken across the street, at a gazebo in the WPA garden near the zoo. Kids near the bamboo and Douglas holding his map. Douglas spent more time looking at the map than at the animals. Every time we got to one he would furiously check the map and say "Now let's go see the tiger! Or "Now let's go see the anteater! And our friend the giraffe. On the gum ...

Straight Outta Davis: October 2006
http://straight-outta-davis.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 31, 2006. The workers arrived this morning to tear the cedar shakes off the side of our house and begin wrapping it with insulation and wire. It will look entirely different by the end of the day. The kids are very excited for Halloween. There is a party/carnival at Douglas's preschool this afternoon which should be fun. We will just trick-or-treat on the block. Thanks to Eileen for sending the Halloween books, which they have enjoyed! Need to work on that I guess. It is really windy tod...

Straight Outta Davis: August 2006
http://straight-outta-davis.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 31, 2006. We quite enjoyed this story this morning. Poet's love letter is a hoax. LONDON, England (AP) - A British writer was duped into printing a fake love letter in his latest biography - complete with a coded four-letter insult aimed at him. More at the link. First grade seems to be going well for all the first graders we know in various classes. Good news all around. Posted by Katherine @ 10:30 AM. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Fron McKinley Park yesterday:. Kids on the slide. Posted by...

Friday, September 29, 2006. So long, constitution. We cannot believe the torture bill and throwing away the constitutional provisions for habeas corpus and all the rest of it. I knew this administration would be bad, but somehow I never imagined they could shred the constitution in broad daylight and be supported for it. Posted by Katherine @ 9:38 AM. Thursday, September 28, 2006. Posted by Katherine @ 1:10 PM. Monday, September 25, 2006. This was the view we had, behind 2nd. Posted by Katherine @ 3:31 PM.

Straight Outta Davis: May 2006
http://straight-outta-davis.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 31, 2006. We went to see Markos Moulitsas of DailyKos at Tower Books in Sacramento last night for the last leg of his book signing tour for Crashing the Gate. It was fun to see him. He lives in Berkeley so it wasn't too far a trip for him. The audience was an interesting mix, people of all ages (probably about ages 1 to 70). We took turns hanging out with Owen and Douglas in the kids' book section. Posted by Katherine @ 9:01 AM. Monday, May 29, 2006. Ate at Taylor's Refresher. Douglas duri...

Straight Outta Davis: November 2006

Wednesday, November 29, 2006. The Sacramento Bee had an excellent article this morning ( link here. By a female reporter about her family's experience in Baghdad. They have recently had to flee their home. It is really interesting, well written, sad and worth a read. Posted by Katherine @ 10:53 AM. New door. Yay. We're looking forward to being able to close the door again. Plus, hopefully having some windows will let in a little light there. It is very dark in our entryway. Posted by Katherine @ 10:24 AM.

In addition to recipes they have a bit of fitness, travel, and "lifestyle" articles. For the past few years they have featured what they call a "Fit House." I read this year's "Fit House" article. This evening. It drools on and on about what a wonderfully green house it is. Posted by Katherine @ 9:22 PM.

Straight Outta Davis: December 2006

Sunday, December 31, 2006. We went out for our 11th anniversary last night. We had a nice time at Bistro 33. Here in Davis, which was refurbished by someone from Sacramento who has a few restaurants there. It is in a building that used to be the City Hall before they built a new one. Earlier yesterday I went to Berkeley to visit my mother who had foot surgery for a neuroma on Thursday. She is doing all right and recovering. Posted by Katherine @ 4:32 PM. Tuesday, December 26, 2006. We went to Sacramento ...
