Just another WordPress.com site. Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park – November 2013. A typical waterhole – Nossob River Bed. First sign of rain – Mata Mata. Our stay was split mainly between Nossob and Mata Mata rest camps. Temperatures ranged from 30 c to 44 c which we found a little too hot at times, especially when searing hot winds were blowing. Shade was at a premium and very little to go around! However, I’m not complaining, we had a great time as usual! Honey Badger and Co. African Wild Cat with prey.

Recently this venue has been providing bird watchers and photographic enthusiasts with wonderful opportunies of seeing and photographing some of the resident bird species, especially the Malachite Kingfisher! I first visited the site on Tuesday (6th March) and was so taken in with the goings on that I re-visited again on Friday. Here are a few of the images I took –. A view from the hide. Just another WordPress.com site. Birds in these arid conditions are very few and far between and are consequently hard to find let alone photograph! Added to this the weather was not always favourable with only two of the four days available for any meaningful work. The second last day saw hurricane winds and rain coming horizontally at us with almost half of the entire annual rainfall for the region falling in that one day! Skilpad flower reserve situated 17 kms west of the town never fails to deliver!
