The story of the Clevedon Violet. Victorian lace greeting card. Victoria and Albert Museum). Queen Victoria also loved violets and led the fashion for wearing them in England. Not only were violets worn by women in their hair and on their clothes, but violets were also used on postcards and greeting cards (see above) and made into perfumes and crystallized sweets. You can still find recipes for crystallized violets and even buy them. Violets were frequently embroidered on linen tablecloths and runners.
