Climbing heights to save lives. August 20, 2010. Our summer climbing quest to save lives, begins in the storybook town of Zermatt, Switzerland. Our guides for the trip were Zoe Hart. Who are certifiably incredible climbers on their own. Zoe and Farmer (he goes by his last name) would be our companions for the entire Alps trip. The climbers consisted of Brooks Talley. CFK director Dr. Peter Wall. And of course myself. The training began high upon a small rocky peak called the Riffelhorn. 13661 ft / 4164 m...

Ruth Mountain 2010 — Climb For Kids
http://blog.climbforkids.org/2010/06/17/ruth-mountain-2010
Climbing heights to save lives. June 17, 2010. Over the past weekend, I had the pleasure to escort Benni Sack. I asked Benni if she could write a blog post about her experience. Here it is. But, I never shrank away from doing it. I didn’t make it to my $3000 donation goal, but we made almost half of that money, enough to send 2 families for treatment, and it was enough. Enough to do the climb. I want to thank Matt for the opportunity to do this and for his excellent guidance. We did it. Thanks. Tweets th...

Gran Paradiso – The Alps — Climb For Kids
http://blog.climbforkids.org/2010/08/20/gran-paradiso-the-alps
Climbing heights to save lives. Gran Paradiso – The Alps. August 20, 2010. Our journey to Gran Paradiso. Joining us on this leg of the journey was Caroline George. Along with Zoe. Gran Paradiso is a pretty benign climb, but yet it still has the traditional alpine elements of the Alps. Our summit attempt would be made from a hut that we would hike up to the first day. And true to form, the food at the hut was spectacular. With this mountain, we ended our two weeks of climbing and European Climb For Kids e...

What it means — Climb For Kids
http://blog.climbforkids.org/2011/05/10/what-it-means
Climbing heights to save lives. May 10, 2011. This month, Climb For Kids is heading to China to participate in the Great Wall Marathon. One of the participants, Jessie Alan. Was kind enough to put together a bunch of thoughts on the event, her preparation and what the run means to her. Running stairs could not suck more. It’s great for your heart but it makes your head kind of swim. It’s hard on your knees on the way down, and hard on your IT bands, hamstrings and calves going up. May 11, 2011 at 5:19 pm.

Just sorting it all out. Running, mostly, mixed in with some life and stuff. Saturday, May 31, 2008. Training Resumes - Part 2. I started this yesterday before the kids went to bed. After I read to my six year old, I decided to lay down. I forgot all about this post. 2 hours later I woke up, took out my contacts and put on my PJs and went to bed. I was apparently tired! So this last week,. I bought some more paraphernilia to help with my legs. We now have a Roadrunner Sports retail store. My plan is now ...

Climbing heights to save lives. Dealing with the doldrums. May 9, 2011. This month, Climb For Kids is heading to China to participate in the Great Wall Marathon. One of the participants, Jessie Alan. I’m still finding it difficult to beat back the winter doldrums and get out to pound the pavement. I tried, Hal Higdon. May 10, 2011...
