Our flight took us to Dar Es Slam, Nairobi, Cairo and finally landed in Amsterdam at 8am on July 22 - 18 hours later. Called the IPA house and took the train from the airport to Central Station. Took the ferry across the canal to meet Theo, our host. Our little cottage is small and quaint with a beautiful garden. Theo and Ine are very kind and helpful. Ine even did our laundry. Thursday, August 5, 2010. Last day of Safari. Last of our Big 5 - the rhino. Friday, July 16, 2010. Up early and met our group for 6am. Left the lodge for our last game drive. We were not disappointed. We saw thousands wildebeest and zebras trekking across the wide open space of the crater. These animals stay in the crater and don't need to migrate to Kenya as there is plenty of water here. Herds wildebeest and zebras. We saw the last of our Big 5 - the rhinoceros! Friday, August 6, 2010. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Pineapple Sunglasses - a new fashion. Sadly said goodbye to the Coral Rock and headed to Stonetown with a stop at the Spice Farm. The tour was OK - we touched, smelled and tasted all kinds of spices. Watched a young boy climb a coconut tree and bring some down for us to taste. Another boy made us weaved baskets, hats, glasses, bracelets and necklaces made out of the pineapple leaves. We have arrived at the Coffee House. Alley ways of Stone Town.
