The adventures of Erin Ayla and Ian Cotter-Brown and climbing news from the Midwest. or wherever we happen to be. Wild Basin and Bouldering Savagery. June 3, 2015. Things are on the ups in Estes Park. We can see Long’s Peak! The weather has taken a turn drastically for the better. And we’ve been going to a great area that’s new to us. Wild Basin. The river is raging right now at Wild Basin. Erin and I have no shortage of future projects in Wild Basin. My injuries from my nasty fall, which was probably tw...

The adventures of Erin Ayla and Ian Cotter-Brown and climbing news from the Midwest. or wherever we happen to be. Monthly Archives: May 2015. May 19, 2015. I’m a lucky man. Yesterday, it was a cold and cloudy morning. Perfect for climbing. So cloudy that it looked like the higher elevation areas were not going to be good. So, naturally, we headed to the Veritas boulder. It was roadside and if it started raining there was no commitment. Then I had a good go. No techy kneebars for a little while. I’v...

Bike Path Warrior: May 2011

http://bikepathwarrior.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. This year's Cheq 100 was good ride despite a rainstorm just before the end. I didn't take it very seriously and ended up 25 out of 85 finishers. Eating and drinking: 2 bottles of Perpetuem, 4 liters of Heed, 4 packs of Clif Shot Bloks, 2 bananas. One Old Milwaukee at the finish. I need to find something to replace the Perpetuem. I dislike the taste so I end up not eating enough food. Here's a pic from the top of firetower climb (from Joe's album. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://bikepathwarrior.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 24, 2012. A few weeks ago I built a new bike from my storehouse of bike parts. I wanted a bike for fall and spring gravel and urban riding. I had an old Motobecane frame ($10) I used to commute on, a single speed wheelset ($50), some single speed cranks from a Bianchi San Jose ($10), a Surly chainring ($10), a pair of Kenda Kross Supremes ($10), some mustache bars ($10), and a set of Tektro RL520 levers ($20). Total cost was about $120. How does it ride? Friday, January 13, 2012. 1 Colle...

Bike Path Warrior: April 2011

http://bikepathwarrior.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 16, 2011. How to Fix a Sansa Clip. Although this is not directly bike related I mostly listen to my Sansa Clip 4gb while riding. It gets me through my commute and solo rides. Recently it stopped turning on, except when it was connected to a power source. After reading some forum posts. It seemed likely that the problem was either a bad connection to the battery or a bad battery. I pried it apart with a knife. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). How to Build a Bicycle Frame Bag.

Tres Ponts and Coll de Nargo. April 2, 2012. It’s hot, so we headed to Tres Ponts. It’s supposed to be cool here as it’s next to the river. It also happens to be really steep with loads of impressive looking routes above 7c. The steep and amazing Tres Ponts. Luckily for us, there’s some 6bs lurking at the far end of the crag, away from the neck-craning main event. My plan was to warm up on some of these, and then jump on one of a number of good looking 7as. Be warned, most of the 6bs at Tres Ponts seem t...
