Day One – Machame Gate to Machame Camp. Dave and Chris at the Kibo Palace. First View of Kili. Porters queue to have their bags weighed at Machame gate. Maybe not by mountain porter standards? Monkeys at Machame gate. Health and saftey notice boards at Machame gate. At last it is time to start climbing! The only way is up. Whilst the tree canopy provided welcome cover it also blocked all views up and down the mountain making it impossible to gauge our progress. We continued making steady progress up ...
Final Preparation | climbkilimanjaro2013
https://climbkilimanjaro2013.wordpress.com/2013/09/08/final-preparation
With just four days to go before we depart for Tanzania the prospect of climbing Kilimanjaro seems very real. Preparations had been going well over the past months with a fantastic days scrambling on Tryfan and the Glyders. The negative effects of holiday Croissants, Cheese and red wine had been tempered by the wonderfully restorative early morning runs through the vineyards of Cote de Bourge. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. And tagged climbing kilimanjaro. September 8, 2013. Best of luck, Chris!

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. We had chosen to travel up by train and were made most welcome by Jo and Steve at the Willows B&B. I could imagine that the walk along the ridge would be a highlight on a nice sunny day but for us the visibility was about 20 meters and the strong side-winds carried hail stones that stung the side of our faces. We descended quickly and once out of the cloud our moods were lifted when joy of joys it briefly stopped raining. The public bar of the Crown Hotel was packed t...

My journey to reach the roof of Africa. June 9, 2013. Yesterday the team, our families and I did a local short walk and then shared a meal and drinks in the evening sun. It was great for us all to spend some time relaxing and talking about the trip ahead of us. Today I’m off for another IHE. The other aspect of my Kilimanajaro challenge was of course to raise funds and awareness for PSC Support. There’s still time to help and every single penny will go to good use to help those affected by PSC. This week...

Sunday, May 31, 2015. It's a critical question to answer: which of your experiences do you want to be so ongoing, so permanent, and so personalized that you would rather buy the experience then rent it? I don't think I need it that badly. Each time we walk into a hotel, a restaurant we are fulfilling a need on rent basis. Why not get the hotel interior decorator do your home? Why not hire the restaurant chef? Renting is so cheap. Is there another idea hidden there? Or have we explored all frontiers?
