Tall Lady on a Bike: Day 15: Eureka, CA
http://tallladyonabike.blogspot.com/2012/10/day-15-eureka-ca.html
Tall Lady on a Bike. Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Day 15: Eureka, CA. I finally ventured out for lunch and met several of my fellow riders at the local Whole Foods equivalent, where we all gravitated independently, for sandwiches. After an afternoon of alone time I was ready to enjoy the company of five other women for dinner at a very fine local eatery, Avalon. Despite only knowing each other for two weeks, we had lots of laughs. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Day 6: Long ...

Tall Lady on a Bike. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. San Francisco, CA. Morning was catch-up time before joining my daughter, Allie, for a walk along the waterfront and a visit to Alcatraz. The views of the city from Alcatraz are spectacular. Andrew joined us for dinner at a favorite restaurant in Chinatown. It was just wonderful to have both kids join me to celebrate my passage through San Francisco. 3/4 of the family. We miss you Dad! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Tall Lady on a Bike. Thursday, October 11, 2012. Day 16: Eureka, CA to Garberville, CA. Farms continued to dot the landscape as well as obvious signs of the driving force of the economy of this area- the lumber industry. Toward the end of the day I paralleled the Eel River for quite some distance. I am completely exhausted- probably should have done less than 80- so will need to adjust my day tomorrow accordingly. Tall Lady on a Bike: Day 28: Ventura, CA
http://tallladyonabike.blogspot.com/2012/10/day-28-ventura-ca.html
Tall Lady on a Bike. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Day 28: Ventura, CA. This dramatic and challenging ride ended with a dinner to give everyone a final opportunity to share stories and many laughs. Carol, one of our four very competent SAG drivers, reminded us that the end was near when she read this poem a couple of dinners ago:. 33 Women out on a trek, let's ride to Ventura, yea, what the heck. We bonded quickly didn't take long. What won't kill you makes you strong. Nancy, Caroline, and Alberta Jean, ple...

Tall Lady on a Bike. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Day 20: Bodega Bay, CA to San Francisco, CA. Yesterday I called ahead to two bike shops in Sausalito to locate a new rim for the rear tire. I had success at Mike's Bikes and made an appointment for the work. I will be able to ride across the Golden Gate Bridge! I arrived at Mike's Bikes. Entrance to bike lane. The bike lane on the bridge is a narrow two-way affair with all manner of cyclists from young and speedy to tourists on rental bikes who don't have a...

Tall Lady on a Bike: Day 28: Lompoc, CA to Ventura, CA

Tall Lady on a Bike. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Day 28: Lompoc, CA to Ventura, CA. I rode the van to Santa Barbara. I decided to have my bike shipped from a shop there to avoid the rush at the Ventura shop at the end of today's ride. I took a walking tour of the city's historic landmarks. The Santa Barbara Courthouse was built in 1929. Its Spanish-Moorish architecture is striking and the view of the city and surrounding landscape from the tower was excellent. Tall Lady on a Bike. Monday, October 22, 2012. Day 27: Arroyo Grande, CA to Lompoc, CA. The goal today was to beat the predicted rain. It was a gloomy day through a non-picturesque agricultural area. So many workers performing backbreaking tasks to put food on our tables. Guadalupe was a slightly charming town along the route. Could have been in the heartland of Mexico. The land here is rich, the kale green, and the mountains brown. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Day 6: Lon...
