Robert's Random Writings: November 2014
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Greenery, Garland, Swags and/or a Partridge in a Pear Tree. For the past few years, I've headed home to my parents' house the weekend of Thanksgiving to help decorate for Christmas. Depending upon whether they're actually going to be in South Dakota for the Holidays, there is either more or less decorating to be done, since more gets done if my sisters and their kids are going to be in the house. There are two very diff...

Robert's Random Writings: March 2015
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Monday, March 30, 2015. Tonight after work, before dinner, I took advantage of the warm evening to go out and attack some of the yardwork we've been meaning to do. Yes, I know we're not supposed to be doing yardwork, yet, but this was stuff that was either fall or spring stuff, and since we had some rain over the weekend I've been worrying that soon it would be too late. Saturday, March 28, 2015. For the record, yes, it is. Hard to come up with so ...

Robert's Random Writings: (Mis-)Targeted Advertising
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015/08/mis-targeted-advertising.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. If you've been on pretty much any website that has advertising in the margins, you've probably noticed that the ads start to "follow" you. On the one hand, it's a little like having an overly helpful shop assistant who won't let you simply look around in the store on your own and wants to help. But then there are the ads offered by the companies who don't really have all of the right information. Labels: A little knowledge.

Robert's Random Writings: If Wednesday Were A Fruit...
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015/07/if-wednesday-were-fruit.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. If Wednesday Were A Fruit. Christopher's sisters were having an online discussion earlier this week about what fruit would symbolize each day of the week. Apparently someone had arrived at work and declared Monday to be the apple of the week, because, you know, a Red Delicious apple is just kind of Monday-ish. My contribution was for Wednesday, which I suggested would be a tomato. Makes sense to me. View my complete profile.

Robert's Random Writings: July 2015
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Friday, July 31, 2015. Friday Food (and Thursday, and Saturday, and Sunday.). Christopher and I seem to go weeks without going out to eat. Sure. We'll pick up burgers on the way home from a shopping expedition. Or we'll get a pizza ordered in. But looking at our calendar for the month of July we had one planned brunch out on it, as well as one dinner out when my sister and brother-in-law were in town. That's it. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Christophe...

Robert's Random Writings: Sunday Wrap-up
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015/08/sunday-wrap-up.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Sunday, August 2, 2015. We now have leftovers from India, Thailand, and. umm. wherever Caesar salad comes from. in the fridge. On the other hand, I'm happy to say that we currently have FOUR tomatoes on the vines outside the back door. One of those vines is currently about nine feet tall - stretching all the way up to the eaves. It's a little bizarre. Labels: Best laid plans. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Robert's Random Writings: May 2015
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Sunday, May 31, 2015. I figure that you need to get plants in the ground within a few days of buying them. Kind of like how you're supposed to use or freeze chicken within a certain number of days after bringing it home from the grocery store. In its way, this suggests the future plantings and lets me know what I'm getting myself into. I say all this to explain that I understand the idea of putting the pots in place before planting. Today, while th...

Robert's Random Writings: January 2015
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Thursday, January 29, 2015. I hate the times when, for no apparent reason, you just get tired. You'll have an entire open afternoon ahead of you so you'll sit down with a book and - boom - you're too tired to read, even though you really want to. Or you'll finally have a quiet evening and decide to sit down and watch TV when - whoomp - like a pillow up-side the head, you're walloped with a case of the yawns. A couple of times, lately. Tuesday, Janu...

Robert's Random Writings: August 2015
http://robertsrandomwritings.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Some editing, some cooking, more than a little rambling. Monday, August 31, 2015. Fried Egg and Tomato on Toast - Finally! There are no photos. No evidence at all, honestly. But I can happily attest to the fact that I picked my first tomato of the season, yesterday. After assuming that all of the tomatoes that were growing were green tomatoes (as in the kind which remain green - even when ripe), I noticed that one of them was finally getting softer/riper on Saturday. It was also changing color. Ironicall...
