http://ayearofcomedy.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
A Year in Pictures of Comedy. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Pssst the show's over. With just a few hours left in this calendar year, I thought I'd take a moment to officially say, "yes, this blog year is done," for those of you who, like a theater audience confused by the fact that the house lights didn't come up or there's no music playing, are confused about whether there's more show left. Well, this show is done. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

A Year in Pictures of Comedy: October 2008
http://ayearofcomedy.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
A Year in Pictures of Comedy. Friday, October 31, 2008. I had a lot of fun at the iO Halloween Party. Surrounded by creative costumes (Photo Booth, High School Musical cheerleader, Sexy Ira Glass, etc), I really regretted not dressing up. Halloween snuck up on me this year. Granted, I haven't dressed up in years, but this year I was so busy I didn't even have time to consciously decide not to get a costume. Links to this post. Thursday, October 30, 2008. Is a Chicago improv performer, director and producer. The Personal and the Professional. There are too many unhappy people doing improv. I don't mean unhappy in their lives, but unhappy with what improv project they're doing. So, I give them this advice:. There are projects you find personally satisfying- you like your fellow performers, you look forward to rehearsals, you enjoy your shows, etc. Sometimes a project is both, sometimes it's just one or the other and sometimes it's neither. Don't be a martyr.

Is a Chicago improv performer, director and producer. If a group hires you to be their director, you'll quickly suss out what they NEED. Just as importantly, you need to find out what they WANT. You've been hired to captain their ship. Where do they want to go? You can't go anywhere without a destination and you can't plot the best route unless you know why they want to go there. Do they: Want to develop a form? Want to perform at festivals? Want to become a member team/house team? If you're any sort of ...

Is a Chicago improv performer, director and producer. The Personal and the Professional. Just make a choice. I don't care what it is. Make a choice and commit to it. I don't care if you decide to do a scene with your back to the audience. I don't care if you decide to speak in gibberish. I don't care if you play dead the entire scene. What you choose to do is absolutely perfect A-1 correctomundo. Posted by Sammy at 5:53 PM. Dave Pasquesi's Improv Commandments. From "Inside the Improvisors Studio".
