Becoming A Family . . .: May 2012

Becoming A Family . . . Saturday, May 19, 2012. When I came home from Women's Conference the kids were waiting with a sign and a cheer. Poor Will, they even had him doing it. Will and Ali loved meeting their cousins. Will loves my sisters and calls them sistras. He cries when he has to leave them and their kids. Ali loves my sister's dog and begs for one. She and Sara are very persuasive. But a dog? I think I have my hands full enough for now. Our joint gardening venture with The Prestwichs and Reeds.

Becoming A Family . . . Monday, April 26, 2010. At one of the seminars I went to recently about adopted kids, they said to remember the magical moments and focus on those instead of all the negative. For my own sake I wanted to blog about my magical April moments. For our one year anniversary with the girls, we went to Park City for a few days. They had a karaoke night at the hotel we were staying. My girls were fearless and took endless turns singing for the group. Jeff had to leave and coul...We went t...

Becoming A Family . . .: September 2010

Becoming A Family . . . Thursday, September 2, 2010. Behind the Fridge and the Garden Hose. Let me start this post by saying that in the six years I lived in my house without the girls, nothing has ever fallen behind the fridge. The other day I heard something fall and turned around. Sara was standing by the fridge looking suspicious. I asked her, "What just fell? She said, "Nothing." I looked everywhere on the floor and truly there was nothing. I was confused, it had been a big noise. A bag of stiff.

Becoming A Family . . . Sunday, April 22, 2012. My girls have been begging to go to the sand dunes again, so my friend Stephanie and I took the kids for two days last week. Will was so dang excited to sleep in a tent that he kept begging to go to sleep. It was a little chilly at night but he didn't mind . Alina was terrified to go, she was afraid of snakes and bugs but in the end she loved it . We got sand everywhere. He always makes us laugh. Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone. http://therastfam.blogspot.com/2012/04/first-birthday-first-easter.html
Becoming A Family . . . Monday, April 9, 2012. First Birthday, First Easter. Will celebrated his first real birthday. When the girls told him it was his birthday and he was going to get presents, he didn't understand. The idea of a cake and candles was foreign. He ran scared behind Jeff when everyone sang Happy Birthday. He did however love blowing the candles out. The Ukrainian Easter bread that made Will whoop for joy. The girls tried several recipes before finding the perfect one. Ali comes out of her...

Becoming A Family . . .: December 2010
http://therastfam.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Becoming A Family . . . Friday, December 31, 2010. Ok I have been a terrible blogger for the last few months, but I had to record something that happened this week which was so funny. When the girls first got here, they were fascinated with getting gas, so I taught them how to put gas in the car. Since then they have taken turns getting gas and get such a kick out of it. Good for me right? Especially in the freezing weather. So after talking to the Sheriff's Dept. I was able to pay over the phone and...

Becoming A Family . . .: July 2010
http://therastfam.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Becoming A Family . . . Tuesday, July 27, 2010. The water was a little chilly, as a river flows from the Glacier mountains into the lake , but the kids didn't mind a bit. Chandler and Elise kayaking off shore. The Smith family brought their kayaks and we floated down the Snake River one evening. We saw all sorts of wild life and the kids were in heaven. So was Jeff. I think the girls and I got a bigger kick out of him than any of the wild life. Another of Mary's musts was Jenny Lake. Sunday, July 4, 2010.
