Voila! 's Adventures: Welcome to Denmark
http://voilasadventures.blogspot.com/2015/08/welcome-to-denmark.html
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Our route took us on a circuitous path around islands, through narrow cuts and past quaint towns. Many boats were used as holiday cottages for the week. Much of the interior of the island is nature preserve. Certainly it looks different than anything we had seen in Norway or Sweden. We went for a long walk to the grocery store, along the one paved road. The centre of town was a fair distance from the mari...

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. On the move again- leaving Norway. This will be our last full day in Oslo. We are headed south in the morning. We have enjoyed our stay here. The last couple of days have been a mix of chores, sightseeing and just wandering around the city. This is Oslo’s City Hall. The weather has been cool and often wet. We spent an enjoyable evening aboard a Dutch boat learning about cruising in their country.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Monday, June 22, 2015. 59º 37’.039N 005º13’.786E. We took a trip back into town where we picked up a few groceries and a Norwegian/ English dictionary. Some words sound like the English words and some need no explanation. Insert 5NOK. This coast has hundreds of lighthouses for obvious reasons. As we approached our destination, we passed another of the many fish farms in the area. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Monday, August 17, 2015. I, of all people should no better than to believe the weather report. After examining all the weather sources we determined it wouldn’t be necessary to lug our rain gear around. We set out to explore the town and not 15 minutes later it began to pour. There are lots of cars that are not marketed in Canada. Too bad this wasn’t ours. Cute, tiny van. Here are a few of the pieces I enjoyed. Since our credit car...

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Friday, August 07, 2015. Friday brought a strong (not forecast) north wind and an exciting sail. Wing on wing as we dodged between islands to our next anchorage. The wind continued on Saturday as headed into Sweden. We had a wonderful time passing through two canals/channels. It was fun to get an up close look at the holiday villages. Wednesday morning, Alan was up early and itching to get going. This was a big day!

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Saturday, June 27, 2015. The camera was set to auto and does not quite do the scene justice. Wednesday morning, it was time to pick up anchor. We headed to a a place called Pilapollen. We sailed more than we expected to, which was a nice bonus. The prevailing wind is from the north so there is a lot of close hauled sailing. 59°55’.411N 005°19’.173E. 60º12’.673N 005º16’.973E. 60º23’.822N 005º19’.344E. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. The coastline is becoming more populated as we head towards the county’s capital of Oslo. You see all sorts of mooring techniques. Tying to the rocks, either on the side or bow on is very popular. We haven’t been brave enough yet. There are bolts with mooring rings drilled into the rocks. Voila! 's Adventures: Oslo
http://voilasadventures.blogspot.com/2015/07/oslo.html
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain. Monday, July 27, 2015. Well, we made it to Oslo last Thursday. We are tied up at the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club. It is in a suburban location but it is also within walking distance of half a dozen museums. Four of them have “maritime” exhibits. Saturday was cool and damp so we headed off to the local museums. We have been using a ferry to get around. It leaves from the dock right next to the Yacht Club. Norway has an impressive his...
