Steel Scraps: Pictures of Jamaica
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2015/01/pictures-of-jamaica.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. The house at Good Hope Plantation. The house was built in the late 1700's as a wedding gift to the plantation owner's son and daughter-in-law. The daughter-in-law died of yellow fever shortly after she arrived from England and was buried inside the house. The owner of the plantation thought it was unlucky to count money in the house so he had this building built to count his money in. The ruins of a 300 bed hospital for slaves is now a bird aviary. Steel Scraps: Back of the Door Organizer
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-of-door-organizer.html
Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Back of the Door Organizer. The door holder I sized it for ended up being too weak and I had to swap with another so the hanging tabs don't fit quite right. Wednesday, August 04, 2010. This is a really good idea for storing these. Im gonna borrow it. Thanks! August 5, 2010 at 8:32 AM. You are just chuck full of great ideas. Thanks for sharing. If we get to do another card swap, Im making myself a card wall so I can show them off too. August 5, 2010 at 11:03 PM. I Spy Baby Quilt.
Steel Scraps: Gizmo To Keep The Matching Bobbin with the Spool
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2008/10/gizmo-to-keep-matching-bobbin-with.html
Monday, October 20, 2008. Gizmo To Keep The Matching Bobbin with the Spool. I was changing the thread on my machine and started thinking about a better way to keep the bobbin with the matching thread. I came up with this easy-to-do idea and thought I would share. Some elastic cord and buttons with holes big enough for the cord to fit through. My spool used about 10 inches of cord. . Thread the cord through the two holes in the button and tie the ends together in a knot. Monday, October 20, 2008. This ...
Steel Scraps: 6 Fat Quarter Bag
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2008/12/6-fat-quarter-bag.html
Monday, December 1, 2008. 6 Fat Quarter Bag. I made this bag using a pattern from the book, Fat Quarter Quilts. By M'Liss Rae Hawley. I didn't use FQs but adapted it to use some fabric pieces my daughter won at a quilt show. It is a very big bag. To fill it out for the picture we put my newly finished Sudoku quilt inside. And it still has more room! 160;It is an easy bag to make. If you used fat quarters it would taking 6 for the outside and almost 2 yards of fabric for the lining. 3D Rail Crumb Quilt.
Steel Scraps: Fuzz Free Rag Quilt #2
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2007/12/fuzz-free-rag-quilt-2.html
Thursday, December 20, 2007. Fuzz Free Rag Quilt #2. The second rag quilt is ready for wrapping. This one didn't have much "fuzz". I don't like the center much and wish I would have done something else but without a space big enough to lay them out it is hard to tell. It looked better on paper. Thursday, December 20, 2007. Steel Scraps: Chicken Pincushions with Thread Caddy Nests
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2008/12/chicken-pincushions-with-thread-caddy.html
Monday, December 15, 2008. Chicken Pincushions with Thread Caddy Nests. I love chicken pincushions, I modified the instructions here. I like prairie point. Combs and mine are bigger because I have so many 5 inch squares to use up) and made a few awhile ago. My SIL won one at the family reunion. I was happy to see her using it when I went to visit. She had put it in a little bowl with some thread and it looked so cute because the bowl reminded me of a nest, which reminded me of another pincushion.
Steel Scraps: New Sewing Room & Fabric Art Postcard Display
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2010/08/new-sewing-room-fabric-art-postcard.html
Tuesday, August 3, 2010. New Sewing Room and Fabric Art Postcard Display. I have a new sewing room. It seems like it has taken forever but I am almost through putting things away and organizing it. It isn't very big but it is all mine for my quilting stuff. I have used it for a few small projects and it is absolutely wonderful to be able to leave work out instead of packing it away at dinner time. The time saved is amazing! I am looking forward to the next postcard exchange! Tuesday, August 03, 2010.
Steel Scraps: Easy Magnetic Scrap Fabric Bookmark Tutorial
http://steelscraps.blogspot.com/2010/10/easy-magnetic-scrap-fabric-bookmark.html
Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Easy Magnetic Scrap Fabric Bookmark Tutorial. I heard about magnetic bookmarks and wanted to make a couple for gifts. I looked for a tutorial online but couldn't find a simple one that used the materials I had at hand, mainly fabric scraps and old magnetic business cards stuck on the side of my fridge. :-). Right after I figured out an easy way to make them I read on Patchwork Times. That Judy is having a Hand Made Gifts contest. Here's what you need:. My children and grandch...
