Crewkerne and District Museum - Architecture. Georgian domestic architecture is seen as its best in many of England's old market towns, and Crewkerne is no exception. Indeed the town is particularly fortunate in the high quality of many of its buildings and the completeness of its Georgian streetscape. This was the great period of the English house, characterised by the adaption of classical architecture principles and details to the design of houses that were pleasing to look at and convenient to live in.

Located on the first floor of the Heritage centre, the room is well lit, heated and will hold a maximum of 35, seated on comfortable upholstered stacking chairs. There are a good selection of light weight tables, available inclusive of the hire charge. There are toilets, a kitchen and a lift. Hourly rate - £10.00. Morning/ afternoon/ evening - £20.00. Whole day - £35.00. Reduced rates for regular bookings.

Meanwhile, while the main industrial estate continues to flourish, there has been a renewed decline in Crewkerne's traditional industries, the last traces of which have been moved out with the departure of Bonsoir in 2004. The remaining industrial areas in North Street are being largely replaced by housing - as has the former cinema building in West Street.
