Caribbean Chic Living by Cristina Canizares: No Sew Halloween Cat Costumes & My New Craft Discovery
http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/11/no-sew-halloween-cat-costumes-my-new.html
Friday, November 2, 2012. No Sew Halloween Cat Costumes and My New Craft Discovery. It was a sweet Halloween. Never-mind the fact that my 23-month old barely gets the concept of Halloween and costumes. This year we were a family of cats. Milan and I's getup homemade, George's store bought from a zillion years ago. FYI, I gave Milan a box of raisons before heading out. It kept her so busy that she wasn't interested in eating any of the candy she collected. HmmmI wonder how long that trick will work for?

Caribbean Chic Living by Cristina Canizares: What I've learned about Halloween Costumes
http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/10/what-ive-learned-about-halloween.html
Friday, October 19, 2012. What I've learned about Halloween Costumes. Trick-or-Treating on our teeny tiny island is a small but sweet event for kids. W. Ith our steep hills and neighborhoods absent of paved roads and sidewalks, yo. U won't see ghosts and goblins going door-to-door. Instead island families convene for candy and treats shared by local businesses and shops at Moongoose Junction. The second a sushi costume I made last minute, just in case. Being a bee lover. I went crazy over the cute bumble...

http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/11/genip-harvesting-how-to-make-genip-rum.html
Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Genip Harvesting and How to Make Genip Rum. Over the weekend we harvested genips from our big, beautiful genip tree that welcomes you at the driveway. Genips are a staple throughout these parts and fruit I've grown up with all my life. In cuban español we call them mamoncillos. This year the harvest came late, but it came producing an abounded amount of yummy sweet, sticky and slightly tart pulp. But I've adopted to our Cuban, Polish, American-VI. Here's the Genip Rum How To:.

Caribbean Chic Living by Cristina Canizares: More Coco’-lanterns
http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/10/more-coco-lanterns.html
Friday, October 12, 2012. This week Milan and I painted coconuts and created our own island style versions of Halloween jack-o-lanterns or coco'-lanterns. We used the coconuts we found on the beach. Over the weekend and some non-toxic, washable finger paint. It was a nice change to finger paint on something other then paper, and making a big mess on the deck was an added bonus! The best part was watching the coconuts roll everywhere. During naptime, I spray painted a couple of coconuts a glossy white....

Caribbean Chic Living by Cristina Canizares: Birthday Wishes & Coconuts
http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/10/birthday-wishes-coconuts.html
Monday, October 8, 2012. Birthday Wishes and Coconuts. We celebrated George's birthday on Sunday and it was a spectacular day. We got him a few gifts but I think his favorite was his new guitar pick. After breakfast, birthday gifts and cheers we headed straight to the beach. The weather was gorgeous. The best part of being on St. John off season is that the weather is great with very few people on island to share it with. Almost as if we had the beach all to ourselves. Ships to the VI. I'm a crafter, hom...

Caribbean Chic Living by Cristina Canizares: The Little But Mighty Pool
http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-little-but-mighty-pool.html
Tuesday, October 16, 2012. The Little But Mighty Pool. The challenges of a second story deck renovation didn't give us the option to build a large pool at an affordable price. We didn't want the expensive of constructing new footings ( over 20 feet high on sloped terrain. I chose to tile the entire pool. All 425 square feet of it! Surrounding the pool was painted so that it disappeared into the landscape. The stone mason created a freeform waterfall built into a stone privacy wall. The pool follows the n...

Caribbean Chic Living by Cristina Canizares: Homemade Vanilla Extract
http://caribbeanchicliving.blogspot.com/2012/10/homemade-vanilla-extract.html
Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Good-quality vanilla extract is hard to find and really expensive. And did you know that it can be labeled "pure" but can contain corn syrup, caramel, colors and stabilizers? Here's the How To:. 1 dark screw top wine bottle. 3 cups Light Rum ( You can also use vodka but I like the taste of rum. Besides rum is cheaper than water in this zip code. Spilt vanilla beans in half lengthwise and drop into the bottle. Pour in the rum. And it'll be ready in time for the holidays! Carib...
