nlindabrit (Linda's Life): October 2009
http://nlindabrit.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Friday, 30 October 2009. I read a story in the Daily Mail newspaper this morning about an unsung British war hero of WWII and so remarkable was it that I could not resist blogging about this extraordinary man. Chapman derailed trains, detonated bridges, destroyed trucks and cars and inflicted thousands of casualties on his enemies. He suffered appalling privations, health problems and injuries but refused to give up. 8226; JUNGLE SOLDIER: The True Story of Freddy Spencer Chapman, by Brian Moynahan, is pu...

Wednesday, 27 May 2009. Still coughing for England. It has become a tradition that I write a story for each Gathering and read it onto CD for them each to have a copy. However, though I have an idea or two for a suitable story, I am far from sure I am going to get my voice back in time to do the reading. I'll have to think about it. Like having a ton of new books, as I rediscover hidden treasures. Queen Elizabeth is a lady who served our country creditably during WWII, as a military driver and like her m...

nlindabrit (Linda's Life): Help at last!
http://nlindabrit.blogspot.com/2009/12/help-at-last.html
Wednesday, 30 December 2009. After constantly nagging my doctor for several weeks, including putting my concerns in writing, the powers that be finally sent the District Nursing Service in to see me at home. My visiting nurse is called Helen and she is a poppet! Im so glad that your persistence paid off. And how nice that they sent someone who is not only knowledgeable, but makes you feel comfortable, too. 30 December 2009 at 06:03. 31 December 2009 at 06:19. Bravo, Helen and the DNS! Art of the day.

Confessions of a Canine Couch Potato: February 2015
https://caninecouchpotato.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Canine Couch Potato. Friday, February 13, 2015. In 1918 the U.S. Postal Service issued a 24-cent air mail stamp that soon became world famous. It was supposed to be used on letters carried between Washington D.C. and New York City by airplane. Air mail was a brand new service back then, as airplanes had only been around for a few years. The airplanes in the center were printed upside-down! No more of the misprinted stamps ever surfaced, and whenever one of them comes up for sale, it alwa...

Confessions of a Canine Couch Potato: Happy birthday to me!
https://caninecouchpotato.blogspot.com/2015/04/happy-birthday-to-me.html
Confessions of a Canine Couch Potato. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Happy birthday to me! A "5 Years Ago Today" reminder popped up on Jeannie's Facebook page this morning. For some reason I always celebrate my "birthday" (in New Buddy Years) on or about April 13th, by going to the vet to get stuck with needles and have my nails clipped and various other indignities. But it beats living in a sinkhole and sleeping in the rain. Thanks for sharing your home with me, Mike and Jeannie. April 20, 2015 at 1:22 PM.

Starting Over One More Time: Those who do not remember...
http://peaches-startingoveronemoretime.blogspot.com/2009/12/those-who-do-not-remember.html
Starting Over One More Time. Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Those who do not remember. Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. George Santayana. We do not remember.or we never knew.or we choose to forget. Doom. Is a word that we don't hear often any more, and when we do, it sounds melodramatic. Is it the right word to use for what is happening today in our country? People are by nature optimists. We want to believe that things will all work out. In the interest of being diverse. We let t...
